Clearly Framed by Leah

Good morning Clear Scraps family! Have you tried the Clearly Framed frames yet? They are one of my favorite items to work with since they released this year. Today, I am going to be working with the Medium Square Fancy Frame.
CSAFRmsqfancy-2T
The inside of the frame will hold a 4" x 4" photo beautifully, but the picture I had in mind to use is only wallet sized. I decided to turn this frame into a Frame to hang.
LeahCrowe_ClearlyFramedFancy_ClearScrapswm
I peeled the protective film cover off the front, then mixed lime green acrylic paint with Liquitex coarse texture gel, and applied it with a foam brush messily all over the frame. Using my heat gun, it took about 15 minutes to dry. Once dried, I lightly dry brushed white acrylic paint to some of the raised edges of the paint to distress it. Once dry, remove protective film covering from back of frame.
Trim a sheet of paper to 5" squared, apply a thin bead of glue all around the edge of your paper and adhere frame to paper. While that is drying, cut approximately 25" of twine, loop each end of twine through decorative edging at the top, and tie together by double knotting the twine.  Run a line of liquid glue along inside edge of frame, and adhere twine to frame the inside edge.

Cut a piece of Glue Arts 3D foam and adhere to back of photo, then adhere photo inside frame. I adhered Sassafras flowers to two corners, cut little hearts and a camera icon from my Silhouette Cameo to embellish the frame further.
Finish off the frame by either using Viva Decor pearls, stickles, or Piccolo enamel paint to add in little dots around the decorative frames edge. I thought this would make a sweet gift to my Cousin for her to hang inside of her apartment without the need for using a nail. It's lightweight and will hang easily on the 3M plastic wall hooks.
Let's see what you've been creating! Share with us on our Facebook wall!
Have a great day!

Spring fashions...

Hey bloggers, Rita Barakat here and I don't know about you
but I am so ready for spring! I know it's already "spring"
but I mean warm spring like weather!
No more coats and rain(boo), I want to wear fun and flirty fashions!
Well, if I cant wear them(yet), I can create them!
I used Clear Scraps  Dress Forms Embellishments and created these sweet little dresses for them.
The Blue Dress: The top is a thin layer of gesso directly on the acrylic,
wait for it to be completely dry then color (I used Gelatos & Pitt Pens).
I used paper for the skirt and lace ribbon underneath.
The Yellow Dress: Is all paper glued onto the acrylic- the sash
is ribbon (I drew the lace ruffles on the bodice).
The Purple Dress: The entire "dress" is gesso directly on the acrylic
- this time the layer was a lot thicker- it takes longer to dry but the
texture was worth it.After it is completely dry you can then color
(I used Gelatos and Pitt Pens).
*The white edges around the dress forms is gesso applied with a paintbrush.

So if your weather is not permitting you to wear fun and flirty fashions like me,
perhaps you can make your own like I did!
Happy Creating!

Spring Vacation Layout

Hello everyone!  Jennifer here to share a layout I created using pieces of the Clearly Accent Embellishments and Expression Clear Word Titles.  For spring break, my kids and I did a quick trip to Chicago for an overnight stay in a hotel.  I caught this cute photo of them in the hot tub and wanted to use it for my project.

  Clear_Scraps_Spring_layout

I first used the 6x6 Chicken Wire Mascil on the corners of my cardstock and sprayed with Dylusions in Lemon Zest.  I then used the 6x6 Numbers Mascil and painted in the center of the page as a background (can you tell I LOVE our Mascils?).

After placing my patterned paper and photos, I used the Vacation  Expression Clear Word Title as well as a Clearly Accent Bird (from the Bird and Cage set).  I colored them both with alcohol inks from Ranger.

Faux Textured Glass Tutorial

Hi everyone! Wendy here and today I'm going to share a tutorial for creating a faux textured glass effect with the Clear Scraps Trifold Regular Frame

Clear_scraps_april_dream_wprice4

Supplies Used: Clear Scraps (Trifold Regular Frame, Small Dream Expression), Stampendous stamps, Sharpie Markers, Ranger Alcohol Inks, Tsukineko (Goosebumps Spray, Memento  and StazOn), Copper Foil, White acrylic paint

Clear_scraps_april_dream_wprice6

Instructions:

1. Remove protective coating and stamp images on the front of Trifold pieces.

Clear_scraps_april_dream_wprice3

2. Remove protective covering on the other side of the acrylic trifold. Using Sharpies or Alcohol Inks, color in stamped images on the back side. Sharpies or alcohol inks will react with StazOn so be sure to color on the opposite side.

3. To make the flowers pop a bit, paint white acrylic paint over the Alcohol ink layer.
Clear_scraps_april_dream_wprice5
4. Allow acrylic paint to dry and then spray with Goosebumps on the side with the Alcohol inks and acrylic paint. This will give the acrylic pieces a texture similiar to water glass and also seal in the paint.

5. Wrap Trifold pieces with Copper Foil.
6. Use wire to bind the panels together.

7. Embellish with Dream acrylic piece, stamped images and a quote.

idea to note: paint white acrylic paint on the back of the Dream acrylic embellishment and outline with copics.

A Spring Card

Though in my part of the world ( Eastern Europe) the spring still can not come because of  unusual long winter and the snow is still outside, I keep my faith that next day it will turn to a warm sunny weather.

That is why I am playong with pastel colors and spring/summer motifs.

ClearSraps_ButterflyCard_Elena

I used Butterfly Send It Clear Card. I decorated it with Maja Design papers and made some stamping with Staz On

Close_ButterflyCard
I stamped some butterflies and script on acrylic, and stamped with white ink on Acrylic sheet small butterfly, cut it out and topped on the buttefly shape.

OpenCard

I decorated it with ribbon , flower and petals

ScriptClearScrapsCard

I like the movement created by these petals

CircleCard

and I left a circle for my sentiment inside the card.

Hope I have inspired you to create your Clear Card during this wonderful weekend.

The Ratties...

We recently adopted two baby rats for our youngest son and they have quickly stolen all our hearts. I created this layout for his scrapbook using the Clear Scraps 12 x 12 Acrylic sheets and Clear Scraps Mini Star keychain.

Clear_scraps_april LO_ratties_wprice2

The Mini Keychains come with 5 acrylic pages are perfect either as a mini album or as embellishments on a layout.

Here's a photo of the layout with pattern paper behind. Acrylic layouts are really hard to photograph but such a cool effect in your scrapbooks!

To create the handstitched border, I punched holes every 1/4 inch with a thumbtack and then stitched it with embroidery thread.

Fun with Mascils and Clearly Framed

Hello!  It's Jennifer and I'm happy to share a fun layout I created using the Clear Scraps 6x6 Circle Mascil and the   Clearly Framed Medium Circle Deco Frame.
I first layed down my Mascil in the upper left hand corner and painted with Distress Ink in Antique Linen.   I lengthened my circles by just moving the Mascil down and lining up the circles.
Clear_Scraps_Clearly_Framed_layout (792x800)
I covered random circles with patterned paper, flair, wooden veneers, and stamped vellum.
Clear_Scraps_Clearly_Framed_layout3 (800x533)
I covered the framed with patterned paper and used a sanding tool to smooth the edges.

Decorative Bird Frame

Good morning fellow scrappers & happy April Fool's Day for those of you who actually enjoy the concept behind this mischievous day!  Kay here with a decorative bird frame made with one of Clear Scraps XL shapes called XL Bird Shapes.  I took the largest of the three birds and turned it into a decorative frame.

I've also used one of Clear Scraps Clearly Framed Small Circle Deco Frame to hold my photo.

IMG_1984
This is one of the latest pictures I've taken with my son that I absolutely love.  The look on his face & his small body language is priceless!

To create the frame I covered the acrylic bird piece with designer paper.  I inked all along the edges of the bird in order to define it's shape and further decorated the edges with dots of light green acrylic paint.

IMG_1995
I've used large flat flowers that I had in my stash folded in half in order to create the bird's wings.

I covered the small acrylic deco frame in designer paper as well, inked the edges and decorated it with dots of Stickles.

IMG_1988
For the tail, I hung a couple of tassels.  With a basic hand punch I punched a hole through the acrylic and strung the 'Love' dominoe sentiment.  I love the fact that this acrylic is thin enough to punch holes through.  This allows you to string several embellishments right onto your project.

IMG_1996
Behind the bird, I've adhered my journaling.  I simply printed my story onto a plain white piece of paper, cut it out and adhered.  Nice n' easy!

I plan to buy a small stand for my decorative bird frame & display this on my desk at work.  More details for this project can be found on my blog.  Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the rest of the week!
