An A-Ha Moment Layout

An A-Ha MomentGood morning fellow scrappers!  Kay here with my latest layout using fabulous products by Clear Scraps!  This would be my little Toby once again giving me his best over the shoulder pose!  I've always loved this look of his and was very happy when I was finally able to capture it.

On this page I've used one of Clear Scraps more recent releases; the 6" Damask Mascil and a pair of Fleur-d-Lis Clearly Accent Embellishments.

IMG_0011Here's a close up of the masking design made with the 6" Damask Mascil.  I used Mustard Seed Distress Ink--which I applied heavily because I really wanted the design of the mascil to come through nice and bright in the background.  I then further dressed up my background with random dots of turquoise Stickles.

IMG_0014Here's a closeup of one of the Fleur-d-Lis clear embellies.  I've simply traced the border with a yellow Sharpie paint pen and added dots of yellow acrylic paint to dress it up a bit more.  I've kept the transparency of this embellishment intact for the most part & just let the colors & design show through from the background.

Here are a few more close ups...

IMG_0013As always, thanks for stopping by & I hope this project inspired some of you to give acrylic embellishments or mascils a try!  Enjoy the rest of the week.

Clearly Framed & word expressions layout by Leah

Hello friends! Leah here with you on the blog to show you how I use the Medium Rectangle Acrylic Frame and the small clear word expressions title bday to create a layout.
CSSThbday-2T CSAFRmrecrec-2T

To start, peel the protective film cover from backside of the rectangle frame, then apply small dabs of Beacons 3-in-1 glue around the frame. Adhere to pattern paper.

Clearscraps_clearlyframed_leahcrowe
Using your craft knife, cut away paper from inside of acrylic frame, then cut away paper around outside edge of frame.

Clearscraps_clearlyframed2_leahcrowe
Next, run a thin bead of Beacons 3-in-1 glue around inside edge of frame on the backside, and position over your 4x6 photo to frame it.

Clearscraps_clearlyframed3_leahcrowe
If you look closely, I applied my glue a little too heavily, so to hide the glue, and help accentuate the frame and photo, I added a thin line of Viva Decor pearl pen around inside edge of frame.

LeahCrowe_HappyBday3WM_ClearScraps

I thought it would look pretty good framing the frame as well.

Click on the layout to view it larger. :)

For the title Happy B*Day, I removed the protective film covering from the backside, dropped alcohol ink randomly over it, and let it dry.  Then I took white paint and edged all around the title.

Mini Acrylic Journal

Enjoy The Journey mini journal(resize)

This is a really fast and mini journal which you can give it as a gift to your friend or take it with you during your vacation or journey to do some simple journaling. I've used a keychain size acrylic tag album by Clear Scraps to create this mini journal.

Here are some pages in it.

Page 1 and 2 (resize)

Page 3 and 4 (resize)

Page 5 and 6 (resize)

I've layered each page with some rich colored fabric and embellished each page with some stamped images. This is super fast and easy. The fabric makes this journal looks classy and expensive. Just remember to stamp all your images using solvent ink such as Tsukineko Staz On. It is a permanent ink that allows you to stamp on any surfaces.

I totally love combining different elements and textures in my projects. Hope you try it too!

A Clear Scraps Banner for the Big Kids!

I recently had the pleasure of helping in the Clear Scraps booth at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Collinsville. It was great to show people how fun and easy it is to work with acrylic, and to spend the day getting to know Susan and Jim a little better! Susan had a great idea for a banner for the booth, but her travel schedule is in full swing so she didn't have the time to work on it. She asked me if I would do a special project for her. Well....when the boss asks.....how could I possibly say no?!! My assignment.....a banner to hang over the make-n-take booth that said "Adult Daycare". So here it is!!

I used the large banner pieces from the Clear Scraps Store.  The lettering was done by tracing some funky fonts on the front of the banners with a fine tip black Sharpie.  Then I daubed gold metallic alcohol ink on the backside behind the letter.  Followed by a mix of "Stream" and blue alcohol inks on the rest of the banner pieces - again on the backside.
Since this will be hanging away from a wall, I wanted it to be a little more opaque to intensify the colors a bit.  I used a paint sponge and metallic pearl acrylic paint on top the alcohol inks (the backside of the banner pieces).
I embellished the pieces with glitter pens, swirls of pearls and ribbon.
Check out this banner and many many other acrylic projects in the Clear Scraps Booth!  Visit the Clear Scraps Page to see if they will be near you!!
Happy Creating!

Hello Spring Clearly Framed Wall Hanging

Hello everyone...its Jennifer and I'm back to share a spring project I created using the Clearly Framed XL Oval Deco Top Frame Set.  Each set comes with one acrylic and one chipboard back piece. Both pieces are easy to paint or cover with paper!

CSAFRxovaldetop-2

I first inked the acrylic overlay with alcohol ink giving it a marbled look. Next, I covered the chipboard back with patterned paper. I carefully trimmed around and sanded the edges to take care of any extra overlaps.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Deco_Frame

I cut out an oval for the center with a different patterned and then added my embellishments! I used the bird and cage from the Clearly Accent Birds and Cage Embellishments. For the cage, I applied a light coat of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam. The bird was colored with alcohol ink and adorned with a paper wing (cut out from old newsprint) and a rhinestone eye.  I added pink tulle trim from Maya Road to the cage and placed paper rosettes and butterflies around the doily (which was misted with spray ink).  I also added tissue and washi tape to the center.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Deco_Frame3

Here, I use the 6 inch Chicken Wire Mascil with white spray ink in the upper corner. I added some additional drips of ink in yellow and blue to accent.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Deco_Frame6

I used some of my favorite new American Craft Thickers to create my title.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Deco_Frame5

Lastly, I added some additional paper rosettes and buttons, as well as a bright yellow chevron ribbon to hang my frame!

Something for Mom

Good morning everyone!

Angi here with a fun gift idea for Mother's Day!

Angi-barrs-cokie-pop-paper-clear-scraps-purse-mini-album 004 copy wm

A friend of mine has been wanting a little book that she can write recipes in. Here's what I came up with. I used Clear Scraps Auntie Brag Bag acrylic album to make it.

I added colored index cards to each page. This will make it easier to write recipes on.

Another Floating Layout using Acrylic

Cherish Life(resize)
Hello Clear Scraps fans! It's Irene here today and I would like to share with you all a layout which I've created using Clear Scraps acrylic sheet as the base. The acrylic base on this layout creates a floating effect for this layout.

DSC_9694

To create more interesting effect to this layout, I've stenciled some patterns on the acrylic sheet using a stencil and some acrylic paint. You can also use solvent ink, alcohol ink or some permanent glaze. I would suggest to use a sponge when stenciling. This will give you a more even and better image. (Tip: It takes a little time for paints or inks to dry on acrylic)

One of a Kind Mixable Lacey Album

Hello Clear Scraps friends, Leah here with you today and I am sharing a mini album. If you follow my blog, you'll know that last month my daughter lost her dear sweet cat, Hamburger. He lived a long, adventurous life! I wanted to create an album my daughter could pick up when she needed to see his sweet face, and the Mixable Lacey 8x8 album was perfect for this.
CSMXlacey-2T
As you can see, it had both acrylic and chipboard pages. For this album, I sprayed Spray Glitter on the backside of all the Acrylic pages. I gave it two good coats and let it dry 10 minutes.
For the cover, once the glitter dried, I painted with Twinkling H20's over top of the glitter application to add some color. Once that dried, I adhered my pattern paper to the back of all the Acrylic pages so the glitter would not escape.

It's kind of hard to capture, but the look against the acrylic is super gorgeous.

The banner shaped pieces come out to reveal two photos.

I love interactive mini albums and adding in a lot of photos!

Lets see that glitter again!

For the focal photo I applied glue to the bottom and both sides only to create a pocket. The love photo tag can be removed to reveal another photograph.

I left little spots through-out the album so my daughter could add her own journaling and thoughts about Hamburger.

The acrylic and chipboard together make such a sturdy, well made album.

Complete Love Layout

Complete Love

Hello once again fellow crafters!  Kay here with my latest project using fabulous products by Clear Scraps.  For this layout I've used the Large Expressions Clear Word Title 'Love' & one of Clear Scraps latest products, the 6" Quarterfoil mascil.

This would be my husband & I with our newborn son.  Our son was about 3 days old when this photo was taken at the hospital where he was born.  It was our first 'family' photo & for me, it was the day that our family was 'complete'--which is what inspired the title.

IMG_2016
Here's a closeup of the 6" Quarterfoil mascil.  I used Pumice Stone Distress ink and with a makeup sponge inked the mascil design onto my background.  I randomly added dots of Silver Stickles to further dress up the mascil imprint.

IMG_1981
I cut the large acrylic title between the 'O' & the 'V'--so basically I cut the word 'Love' in half.  Next I covered all the letters with designer paper.  I sanded down all the edges of the letters in order to smooth them out.  Finally I highlighted the border of each letter with a white gel pen and a bit of Star Dust Stickles.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope this layout inspires some of you to utilize Clear Scrap's large acrylic expressions as a unique title for your pages.  Enjoy the rest of the week!

Spring Dream Clear Scraps Card

It looks like we survived another winter....well except for the possible SNOW in the forecast for Friday.  REALLY?!!  Isn't it APRIL?!!!  I am so ready for Spring!
Soft spring colors inspired the Clear Scraps Send it Clear card.  This is the Half Scallop Card.  I also used the Expressions Clear Word Titles - Dream (small).
The front of the card was decorated with a butterfly stamp that I stamped in Stazon Opaque White and then dusted with glitter while the ink was still wet.  The scalloped border was done with Viva Decor Pearl Pen which was also dusted with glitter while it was still wet.  A mix of silver and gold alcohol ink was used around the edges of the two front pieces.
The paper used for the background on the card is from Prima Marketing's Fairy Rhymes Collection.  "Dream" was colored on the back using Viva Decor 3D Stamp Paint.
I hope the Spring colors are starting to pop where you are!  But if it's still cold and nasty out, stay in and create your own Spring beauty!
