Let's Make Some Fun Decor!

Good morning Clear Scraps fans!

Angi here with a fun way to alter an acrylic album piece!

Angi-barrs-clear-scraps-altered-acrylic 007 copy wm

My project just uses one acrylic sheet from the 6 x 6 Acrylic album. Did you know that you can decorate just one sheet of the acrylic to use as decor?

I am using this piece in my craft room. It can easily sit next to my plant or I can frame it. Either way it will be a fun decorative piece for my room.

Here's how the acrylic looks all dressed up:

Bird Song Album

Hello! Elena is here with you today and I want to share one more mno album made, using BIYW Fun Tabs acrylic 6.5" x 6.5".

  Clear_Scraps_Mini_Tab_Elena_Olinevich
I made it using Graphic 45 papers, from Bird Song Collection.

Firstpage

I made it for my friend who collects Oriental wisdom quotes. So I suppose it is a great pleasure for her to own it.

as all of the pages are acrylic there. it is very convenient to use the background papers as well for you mini, as theu are quite well seen and match perfectly each other

Second

Though the papers are quite bright, I used paints as well and made some stamping using Staz On and bird images

Third

Also I added some swirls using golden acrylic paint.

Forth

and one of my favourite mixed media technique  - painting with your fingers was used quite well there too.

Hope you have enjoyed watching this colorful mini album.

A Spring Layout

Spring(resize)

Are you all ready for Spring? Today, I would like to share with you all a Spring layout which I've created using an XL acrylic scallop piece as the base. Clear Scraps carries many designs of acrylic XL pieces which are just amazing and fun to use!

DSC_1656

I've attached the pattern paper from the back of the acrylic base to keep the glossy surface in front of the layout.

DSC_1652
I've used the chicken wire mascil by Clear Scraps and some white gesso to create the textured hexagons on the acrylic surfaces. Simply just place the mascil on top of the acrylic surface and later use a palette knife to genrously apply some white gesso over it. Remove the mascil and let it dry. To add some colors to it, I've misted it with some colorations by Art Anthology.

Try to create some textures on your next acrylic projects using this simple technique. You'll be amazed with the results. Have fun experimenting!

Bring on Spring!! Clear Scraps Decor

I love to see a little snow, but I love even more to see it go away!  This winter has been a bit colder and snowier than the past few, so Spring seems that much sweeter!  So, to celebrate, I've created a little acrylic wall decor.
The base of this piece is a Clear Scraps XL Shapes - Deco.  Most of the embellishments were left over from the Clear Scraps Creating Made Easy Kit from March.  The background was done with acrylic inks, using the same technique as one of the featured projects in the kit.
To add a little border, I used a white paint pen and drew little "S"s around the edge.  I like the white on the acrylic so much I kept going with some dots and edges around some of the embellishments.  One of the really great things about working on acrylic is the forgiving nature.  I put my finger in a section of the "s"s and smudged them before they were dry.  I simply wiped them away with a clean cloth and re-applied.  You can't do that with paper!!
Enjoy doodling on Clear Scraps!!
Happy Spring!!

Spring Mixables Album

Hello once again fellow crafters Kay here wishing you all a happy Spring!  Where I live here in the East Coast; today is the first day of Spring--although with all the snow we recently got it still doesn't quite 'feel' like Spring.  Luckily, Clear Scraps has a variety of themed acrylic & acrylic with chipboard 'mixed' albums--so to get me into the mood to welcome the Spring season, I decided to alter the Spring Mixables Album

Clear_Scraps_Spring_Mixables_Album_KayFatula
This was the first time I altered one of these 'mixable' albums & I can't express how much fun I had!  The combination of both acrylic & chipboard pages provides an endless array of possibilities--you can stamp, emboss, use alcohol inks, permanent markers, use rub ons, cover the pages with designer paper, use paint, use mixed media...I could go on & on!  On this album I used several techniques to both give it texture & to decorate it.  For the chipboard pages I decided to simply cover them with designer paper.  For the acrylic pages, I applied a combination of rub ons, permanent markers for the edges & a bit of thick glitter known as Diamond Dust. I further decorated the entire album with a combination of Stickles & Liquid Pearls.

IMG_1949

In this close up you can see how the several layers of techniques, textures, chipboard & acrylic all combine beautifully to create this album.  To highlight the border of the cover I first outlined the edges with a pink Sharpie oil based permanent maker.  Next with a thin paint brush I went along the edges with a dry clear adhesive.  Finally, I poured Diamond Dust glitter onto the adhesive & allowed it to dry.  When dry, you get this glittery border that defines the edges beautifully.

IMG_1942

For the inside pages, I highlighted the edges with a combination of Silver Stickles, Teal & White Liquid Pearls.

IMG_1941
I used 1" book rings to hold my album together & then tied several organza & satin ribbons along with pink & purple tulle to the book rings.

IMG_1943
The doilies are where I intend to adhere my pictures.  I have yet to take the pictures that I'll be using with this album--either way, my album is set & ready to go as soon as I have the pictures taken!

IMG_1945

I intend to adhere my journaling/story to the last page of my album.

IMG_1948
These albums also make for really personal & thoughtful gifts for a special someone.  Thanks to all of you for stopping by.  Make sure you keep coming back to check out the other talented DT's creations with Clear Scraps products.  Enjoy the rest of the week!

Clear Scraps Plaque dressed up for Easter

Hello Clear Scraps friends! Leah here with you today to share this sweet little plaque I created to decorate for the upcoming Easter Holiday. We'll be working with the following Clear Scraps products: Scallop Corners Plaque and Mini Dragonfly Album.

CSEAscallop-2T          CSMNdragonfly-2T

This took around an hour to put together, but I'm pretty sure it would have been less time had I not been sick and making silly mistakes. ;-)

LeahCrowe_ScallopPlaqueDragonfly_Easter

To start I removed the packaging from the front of the Scallop Plaque, and punched two holes in the corners for hanging. I then alcohol inked clouds on there using a stencil. While the alcohol ink was out, I removed the protective film from one dragonfly from the mini album and alcohol inked it with Cranberry and Sunshine yellow colors. I added some Cosmo Cricket rhinestones, bent the wings upwards a bit, and it was ready as an embellishment.

LeahCrowe_ScallopPlaqueDragonfly2_Easter

I then selected my Hug Snug seam binding and tied it to the plaque so it could be hung. I used cut files from Miss Kate Cuttables and my Cameo Silhouette to create the Easter bunny and title. I cut the files using Colorbok cardstock and Bo Bunny Double Dots pattern paper. I adhered the designs together after cutting, then adhered them to the scallop plaque.

LeahCrowe_ScallopPlaqueDragonfly3_Easter

Super festive and a perfect home decor item for any family that celebrates Easter.

I hope you enjoyed today's post. Like us on Facebook and check out what we're doing on the Creating Made Easy Kit blog  and like us on Facebook too!

Mr Sunshine

Hi everyone! I recently found this photo I took a few years ago of my youngest son on a family day trip. He was so unhappy and gloomy  in the photo, that I thought it would be fun to play off his mood and pair it with happy, bright papers in a layout.

  Clear_scraps_mar_layout_scallop_wprice1

Supplies Used:

  • Clear Scraps Deco Shapes (XL Scallop)
  • Pattern Papers (Basic Grey, Echo Park, American Craft, KI Memories, Cosmo Cricket)
  • Cloud Sticker (Echo Park)
  • Alphabet Stickers (Basic Grey)
  • Other: Glossy Accents

Clear_scraps_layout_mar13_wprice2

Instructions:

  1. Sketch out ray design on scrap paper to use as a pattern. Using a rainbow of pattern papers and cut out rays.
  2. Adhere pattern paper to black cardstock and machine stitch. Adhere to the back of the Clear Scrap Scallop Deco Shape.
  3. Adhere photo to the front of the Clear Scrap Scallop Deco Shape.
  4. Add title with alphabet stickers to photo.
  5. Use typewriter to type journaling and adhere to layout.
  6. Embellish layout with cloud sticker, sun and glossy accents raindrops.

Clear_scraps_mar_layout3_wprice

idea to note: To create the look of raindrops, place a drop of Glossy Accents on the Clear Scraps acrylic. Place a pin tip in the middle of the Glossy Accents and pull up to create a rain drop look. Allow to dry completely. Be sure to practice on a scrap sheet of acrylic or while the plastic backing is still on your acrylic to get a feel for how to make the rain drops.

Remember Tri-Fold Acrylic Frames?

Best Bud Altered Tri-Fold Frame(resize)

Do you all remember that Clear Scraps also carries the gorgeous cast acrylic tri-fold frames? Have you all tried them? If not, here's another project to inspire you all.

I've created this home decor piece using Clear Scraps tri-fold scallop frame with Bo Bunny's Ambrosia collection. The cast acrylic makes this a very sturdy tri-fold frame that you can display anywhere in your home.

Here are some details on this frame.

I've used some rub-ons, stickers, chipboard pieces and trims to embellish it. (Tip: to keep more glossy surface on the front of your project, stick your pattern papers from the back of your acrylic.)

Try creating your own tri-fold frame for your home or as a gift for a special friend! Happy creating!
