Dream - Summer Days

  Yes, I know it is already a Christmas time preparations, but I still can't stop thinking about the summer. That is why I want to share with you one more Summer Layout using Clear Scraps.

 

  I like using bleu colors for my projects, so added many flowers from Manor House Creations and I know for sure that this color combination is great on clear acrylic too. So I decided to strengthen these colors by adding them on to Dream Small Expression

  I have covered it with alcohol inks, let them blending and then added some spots.

The same technique was used on the Butterfly Embellishment

  I really love to use my acrylic embellishments and regarding their transparency you can place them almost everuwhere without any fear to loose some background view.

Baby Acrylic Recipe Stand (Mini Album)

Happy belated Thanksgiving Clear Scraps fans!  Although I think everybody is already in Christmas mode!  :-)  Kay here presenting my latest project made with the new 4"x6" Acrylic Recipe Stand & the Acrylic Mini Word Album Baby.  I decided to turn the recipe stand into a mini album showcasing my newborn baby boy.  I added ribbon, paper, stickles, transparent elements, flowers, alcohol inks, lace, paper piecings, stamping etc...to embellish this small album.  I'll go into more detail with each photo.

 I went with a blue, white & yellow color scheme for my album.  As you can see, you can easily add dimension to your album with transparent elements.  Don't be afraid to adhere transparent embellishments to go off your page--doing this is what gives your album a dimensional look.  I added some light blue lace at the bottom along with a bit of white pom-pom ribbon.  For the cover--beaded flowers & mulberry flowers were combined along with strips of ribbon, a small glass vial filled with glass beads, square letter beads spelling out my little guys name & a small yellow teddy bear that I found at my local craft store.

 For the word 'Baby' I went with alcohol inks!  I still say alcohol inks give acrylic the best texture.  To go along with the color scheme of the album I used alcohol inks in shades of yellow & blue.  To make the word 'Baby' stand out more I highlighted the border with a white Sharpie paint pen & added dots of white liquid pearls.  

In this photo you have a better look at the effect the alcohol inks give the acrylic and how I highlighted the edges.

For the rest of my pages I'm using mostly flat flowers, stamps, paper piecings, rub ons & stickles to decorate.

I guess you can say this is the very first photo I have of my baby boy--so I began my album with this ultrasound photo.  I plan to add journaling on the backside of each chipboard page sharing my thoughts about each photo.

I can't tell you how long I've had these paper piecings in my stash.  It's been ages & ages.  I knew one day I'd find a good use for them.  I have several puppy, blue bird & yellow duckling paper piecings and they worked wonders for this album.  Here you can see a puppy paper piecing adhered to one of the acrylic pages.  I added the large flourish rub on to further decorate it.  You can see my photo peeking out behind the acrylic page.  Rub ons make for another fabulous way to decorate acrylic.  

Here's the photo behind the acrylic page.  I added yet more transparent elements & a large flat flower.  Following are more pages from my album.  I do not have all the pages with photos yet.  My little guy was just born & I'm still in the process of taking & developing photos of him.  As you can see though--the album is already prepped...just add the photos and maybe a few flowers, stamps or rub ons here & there & I'll be done.  

In front of each chipboard page I have an acrylic page--I love the effect the acrylic page adds to the chipboard page behind it.

This final photo shows a close up of the edges for both the acrylic & chipboard pages.  I randomly added dots of stickles and/or liquid pearls along the edges of all my pages.  I did not go all the way around--I randomly highlighted the edges to add a bit of visual interest.

Christmas Sun Catcher By Pinky!

Good morning and Happy Holidays!

 

Pinky here with a fun Christmas project. 

I thought I would try to create a few different projects this year and I started by using the Clear Scraps Tree Mini Album to make this Christmas window hanger or Sun Catcher! You could definitely hang these on the tree too!

I just took the Clear Scrap Mini Trees and used Copper and Gold enamel powder- heat embossing them VERY carefully so they bent for texture but did not completely curl up and melt. 

You really have to take your time and work with them gently. 

After that I added some Clearsnap Glitter to create a snowy look on the edges. 

Then I punched holes in the bottom of each one, and strung them with gold mesh ribbon. 

After that I added metal snowflakes from Momenta, I added them on each side. 

Then I threaded a Crystal Sun Catcher through the bottom and placed a gold bow over. Not only is it a great sun catcher but it is 2 sided and perfect for the holidays. 

How versatile are these mini albums? I think I could create with them for years!

Give Thanks!!!

Happy Sunday everyone!!!  Hope you all had a good thanksgiving!!  Right about now is when I get kind of tired eating left overs :), turkey soup, turkey sandwich and turkey casserole. It is the only time of the year that I prepare turkey dinner and so we really look forward to it But even then, I'm really ready to move on :) Anyhow, we have  so many things to be thankful for,  We give thanks for life - the freedom to enjoy it all!!!

For todays project,  I created this "Thanks" Clear Scraps Large Pennant Banners.  I love  banners, you can make one for any occasion. It's Great holiday decor!  I don't think I'll get tired using banners on my projects anytime yet!

I started by tracing and cutting pennant shape on my papers (sprayed with several color of  glimmer mist) then attached it under the acrylics; I used a punch to make different color borders for each pennants and attached on top of the acrylics (this is a good way to hide adhesive ).  I think the big sticker letters are perfect for this project. Then I added few more embellishments and ribbons to to finish it.

Other supplies used: Tim Holtz Papers, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mists, Core'dinations Cardstock, Ki Memories Doilies, May Art Ribbons and Making Memories Large Vinyl Letters.

"Courage" acrylic expression

Have you all tried using Clear Scraps acrylic expressions? These acrylic expressions are perfect as layout titles! Their see-throughness allows you to place them anywhere on the layout without covering up whatever is underneath.

To make it visible but still maintain its see-throughness, I've used a gold sharpie marker and outline it. You could also use Zig painty marker, Copic marker or any permanent marker.

These acrylic expressions could also be used on frames, mini albums, cards, regular album cover or any other projects you have in mind. Try it!

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to all our US friends! Leah here with you this fantastic morning to share with you a Thanksgiving card I made.

I Am Thankful Acrylic Recipe Stand

Hello everyone! Jennifer here again to share a project I did using the new Acrylic Recipe Stand.  I love that you can use this for so many different projects!  To go along with Thanksgiving, I decided to do a thankful theme.  The circle tabs at the bottom are perfect for numbers!

 

 I hope this inspires you to make your own "thankful" themed project! Everyone have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving!

Alcohol Ink on Clear Scraps Expressions Clear Word Titles

For a long time, I was a little apprehensive about using alcohol inks on acrylic.  Now I don't know what I was afraid of!  It is so much fun and creates such great effects.  So for anyone that hasn't tried it yet, here's a quick little project to give you a little inspiration to try it.

I wanted a burgundy/wine color so I picked Red, Purple and Yellow alcohol inks.

I added drops of ink to a blending pad.

After removing the protective plastic from the back of my title, I daubed on the first layer of ink.  These colors are very vibrant and the first layer will give you very bright colors.  Depending on your project and the colors you've chosen, you may want to stop at one layer and not over-work the colors.  

But for this I want deep color so I went back over it with a second layer.  Now the red was starting to take over - maybe a little too pink/red.

I added a little more Yellow and a little Green to my pad to "brown" the red down and went back over the title again.  It was finally getting to be the deeper, warmer colors I was after.  What I really enjoy about daubing on the alcohol is watching the way the colors marble.  I love that effect!

These colored titles are a great addition to any layout.

For this project I was creating a framed collage for my husband's office.  I wanted a nice clean look, but something a little more interesting than just a photo in a frame.  The Clear Scraps Expressions Clear Word Titles were the perfect answer.

Blessings Photo Stand

Hi everyone! Wendy here and today I'm sharing an altered photo decor piece that I created using one of the Clear Scrap 6 x 6 Book Stands.

Supplies Used: Clear Scraps (6 x 6 Bookstand & Expressions Small Blessings), Authentique pattern paper, Simples Stories pattern paper, Stampendous (Cling Leaf Sprig & Class A Peel Scroll stickers), Ranger Alcohol Inks (Butterscotch & Cranberry), Tsukineko (Buttercream StazOn), Beacon (Zip Dry), white acrylic paint, buttons, cardstock

Instructions:

1. Trim pattern papers and mat with cardstock. Adhere papers to back of acrylic book stand.

2. Ink the back of the acrylic Expressions Small Blessings with Butterscotch and Cranberry Alcohol ink. When dry, add a thin coat of white acrylic paint over the alcohol inks.

3. Stamp Leaf Springs in Buttercream StazOn on the front of the acrylic book stand.

4. Cut bingo card images from pattern paper and adhere to book stand. 

5. Adhere photo, scroll sticker, buttons and acrylic expressions to book stand.

Birthday Banner with Jessica Griffin

I'm really excited for this banner! It started out being something completely different, and it manifested into this... Originally I started with the Home Sweet Home banner. I was working on the house, and the hearts when my daughter walked up and said: "Oh mom, that's so beautiful, I wish this could be for my birthday!" How can I deny such a sweet request? Especially when her birthday is just a few weeks away. So, I switched gears... using a combination of techniques, products and banners, this is what I came up with...

The butterfly and flowers are from the Butterfly Banners collection.

To create the butterfly, you'll need glitter, lace and double sided "Tear-ific" Tape. You'll cover the butterfly with tape, and apply glitter over top of the lace. I like to work in small areas, so I only tear off the top layer of tape when I'm going to work on that area. For this technique you're using the lace as a mask so to speak, and depending on the size of your lace, it may not cover the whole butterfly. For the butterfly here I've used Sunny Daze, Neon Flamingo, and Rapture Blue.

To create the texture on the flower below, I used Artist Cement, Heavy 101. I mixed the Heavy 101 with Holly Leaf Green Fire mica powder from Lindy's Stamp Gang. I used a palette knife to spread the cement over a stencil, creating the pattern. While the cement was still wet, I sprinkled Starfire glitter on top, giving it some sparkle!

This part of the banner comes from the Believe collection. If you wanted to do something similar, you could use the 5 Piece Banner as well. After covering the pennant with paper, I used my Crop-A-Dile to put holes in the center of each scallop. Then I created the pink pinwheels from a 6" square piece of paper, and didn't think until afterwords to add glitter, so I simply used my stickles.

To create the green pinwheel, I cut a strip of paper 1" wide. I cut two different lengths- the first was 12" in length, and the second was 6" in length, then I glued the two together. So the finished piece was 1" wide by 18" long. I scored it at every half inch. Once I had the pinwheel complete, and together, I dipped the ends into Brushable Glue (it's thinner than most glues and doesn't get clumpy), and then Starfire glitter.

My kids right now love the song, "here's my number... so call me maybe." I have this cute little die from Papertrey Ink and the matching stamp set of a telephone and I thought it would be a great embellishment for this banner! I stamped the telephone and heart using Fuchsia Pink Staz-On. I stamped the center part of the phone, the dial, using Onyx Black VersaFine. I covered the phone and heart with tape and covered all the pieces with Starfire glitter.

I dry embossed it, added gesso, paint and black ink.

 

 The brown felt are rub ons. I used cream acrylic paint on the edges & splattered it on the album.

I brushed gold paint randomly on the inside of the acrylic cover.

I plan to use this album to record all the blessings our family has experienced through

the years - I think it will make a great conversation piece for Thanksgiving day!

**Blog Hop** Clear Scraps and Quick Quotes Day #5- Fall Wall Hanging from KC

Welcome to Day #5 of the Clear Scraps + Quick Quotes Blog Hop!

Clear Scraps is teaming with Quick Quotes for a great blog hop this week.  For my CS-QQ project, I've made a Thanksgiving wall hanging.  

For the base I used two pages from Clear Scraps Chipboard All Mixed Up Album, covered with paper from Quick Quotes Fall Collection.  I also used Quick Quotes Fall Sweet Fall Vellum and quotes from the Cherry Truffle page.

"Holiday" is from Clear Scraps Expressions (Small).  I colored the back by daubing on alcohol inks in purple, yellow, orange and green, until I had a nice fall blend.

Then I sponged metallic bronze acrylic paint on the back. 

The acrylic paint gives the letters a little metallic glitz and helps the colors pop against the dark background.

The leaf embellishments are from Quick Quotes Bag o' Chips and were embossed with Globecraft Memories' Piccolo Embossing powders  I also did some stamping on the chipboard and embossed with more of the Piccolo powders.

Good morning! Leah here with you today to share this spooky cute layout using Clear Scraps 12x12 Acrylic sheet and Quick Quotes hauntingly cool Halloween line.

To photograph this layout, I first tucked a sheet of white cardstock behind the layout. Everywhere that you see white is actually see through on the layout! I absolutely love creating layouts on top of Clear Scraps 12 x 12 acrylic sheets.

Here's a photo without the white cardstock.

I doodled Glossy Accents around the edges and added glitter... I think I still have some in my hair today! ;-)

I also added machine stitching in several places on this layout. I especially love the area with the cute Vampire Halloween jokes.

Hi everyone, Tonya here, welcome to day four of the Clear Scraps & Quick Quotes combined blog hop. Today I have a little piece of Halloween decor to share with you. For this project I used a piece from the Clear Scraps large pennant banner and the Halloween paper pack from Quick Quotes. 

                                            

I started by cutting a piece of the orange zig zag paper to go around the border of the acrylic pennant base. Then I used a Martha Stewart spider web punch on the grey polka dot paper and added a strip of the striped paper across the middle. I adhered one the Quick Quotes vellum sayings to the middle of the banner and added some googly eyes for a "scary" effect. Finished it off with some Halloween twine, a button and some jewels.

**BLOG HOP** Clear Scraps & Quick Quotes My Little Devil Layout Day #3

Welcome to Day #3 of the Clear Scraps + Quick Quotes Blog Hop!

Hello again Clear Scraps fans--Kay here bringing you a Halloween page filled with both Clear Scaps & Quick Quotes goodies.  I've been wanting to scrap this photo of my fur-baby Toby for the longest time and these papers by Quick Quotes gave me the opportunity to do just that.  This photo was taken last year on Halloween where I dressed Toby up as my 'little devil'--which in turn gave me the title for this page.  

I've used a Clear Scraps XL Scallops shape as the base for my page & the following supplies by Quick Quotes: Be Afraid...Color Vellum Quote, Halloween 200 paper, Halloween 100 paper, Halloween 300 paper, Halloween 400 paper, Halloween 500 phrases & Mango Mai Tai Chalk Ink.

All papers used are by Quick Quotes.  I also had a lot of fun creating that colorful background on the Clear Scraps acrylic.  Here's a closeup of the background.

The trick to get those random splatters are alcohol inks & a can of compressed gas duster.

Directly squeeze drops of alcohol inks directly onto your acrylic then give those drops of ink quick blasts with the compressed gas duster & you'll instantly have random streaks of ink on your background making for a very unique look!  Don't forget to give your ink a few minutes to dry.  Here's another closeup.

I also once again stamped directly onto my acrylic with black Staz On.  As always, do remember to use a permanent solvent ink when stamping on acrylic--using any other kind of ink will cause your image to smear.  The black flourishes seen here were made with a stamp.
