Expressions Art Canvas- "Journey" Tutorial

Good morning Clear Scraps friends!

Pinky here today- I was completely inspired by the new Expressions words from Clear Scraps and decided to make an art canvas. Then I went one step further and decided to photograph the process and make a tutorial, so you can make your own art canvas!

I chose the word "Journey" because it is so inspiring to me, life is always a journey and it's always a chance to learn something new and move forward.

Blessings...

It's hard to believe that it has been eleven years since 9/11. I think it is on this day, more than any other day in the year that I look at my family and am SO VERY THANKFUL for all the I have been blessed with. So many lost so much on that terrible day....a day most of us will NEVER forget.

With this thought in mind I created the following layout. Wouldn't you know it that Clear Scraps had perfect timing! They just released four brand new Small Expression Word Titles and BLESSINGS is one of those words (along with Courage, Journey, and Holiday).

                                            Cs-TonyaDirk-Blessings1

                                            Cs-TonyaDirk-Blessings4

I embellished the word with a strip of Washi Tape. I just layed it right over the middle of the word and the turned it over and cut out all of the pieces in the middle of and between the letters with an exacto knife. Outined it with a Zig Paint Pen and then I stitched down the middle of it with my sewing machine (yes, you can totally do that with almost all of the acrylic pieces from Clear Scraps!!!).

Thanks for stopping by the Clear Scraps blog today. I hope you take a few extra moments to hug and squeeze the ones aroumd you!

Gifts for Teacher!

Angi-barrs-clear-scraps-bookstand-carta-bella-paris-girl
Hello everyone! Angi here with my very first Clear Scraps project.

I'm a teacher myself, and I also like giving gifts to my fellow teachers on my campus. I made this one for a teacher buddy who had the opportunity to travel to Paris this summer for the first time. Lucky her!!!!

As soon as I saw the Clear Scraps 6" x 6" bookstand, I knew that it would be so fun to dress up. You have got to check them out in the Clear Scraps store.

Clear-scraps-bookstand

I love these bookstands because they are so versatile. You can cover all of the acrylic or just some of it. Use your imagination and decorate it however you like.

I used some 6 x 6 paper and chose not to cover the entire stand. I think it gives the look of elegance with the paper that I chose. And check out the bling at the bottom. It never hurts to add sparkle and shine to a project. Stickers and other gems hold up very well against the sturdy acrylic.

Need a quick gift? mini albums!

Hey there bloggers Rita Barakat here with a quick and easy
gift idea that you could make in one setting!
All you need is this cute little mini tab album
from Clear Scraps, some rub ons and your favorite 3x3 photos.
(I printed 3 1/2 x 5 photos and trimmed them down.)

I put all the rub ons directly on the acrylic!

* I did not adhere any of the photos to the acrylic,
the holes for the jump rings hold them in place and
the acrylic pages in between keep them safe.  You can do this!

An apple for you

It's that time of the year where apples are synonymous with teachers. Today I have a card to share with you, this one was created with a very special teacher in mind.

Csteacher1

This card began with a 12x12 sheet of Clear Scraps acrylic. I cut out a 4 1/4 x11" piece to create my card base. I then embossed a a small section on the front of the card using an embossing folder.

Csteacher2

After a bit of embellishing I added a small scalloped acyrilic square from the Frames Embellishments package. To this I simply added a die cut felt apple, some paint pen around the edge, and some tiny jewels at all of the points.

Csteacher3

Finished off with a simple stamped sentiment on the inside.

Any budding artists in the family?

Hey bloggers Rita Barakat here! The kids are back in school (yay!) and already I am thinking
what am I going to do with all that artwork? After all
"Every Artist was first and amatuer!"
Ralph Waldo Emerson
So I came up with a mini album! How about taking a picture of your budding artist
and filling the pages with pictures if their beautiful artwork?
This would also make a wonderful gift item for the granparents!
Of course I had to decorate mine, (but you could let the kids do it)
I will add their pictures as I get them!

I used this album is the 8 inch circle album from Clear Scraps.
You already know that you adhere lots of different papers to acrylic
but did you know that you can use lots of
different mediums to color acrylic if you use gesso first?

Paint it on or use an old gift card.
The trick is you must let it dry completly!
Then you can paint, mist, stencil whatever -
and it looks really cool! (If I do say so myself.)
Did I mention I like purples?

I also used texture paste and a stencil directly on the acrylic (without gesso).
What you are looking at is a clear page with
the stenciled frame and words. (see below.)
Hint* I used cut up words and had the same saying on the back- the trick is
on the back of the word "the" is the word "in" and the back of the word
"in" is the word "the".

Covering the entire page with gesso allowed me to
play with all types of techniques.

I think these will be great backgrounds for my budding artists!
Your turn!

Acrylic Card w/ Embossing/Decorating Tutorial

Good morning Clear Scraps friends,
Pinky here with a fun card today, perfect for more than one occasion.
For this project I used a Clear Scraps sheet of acrylic (trimmed down) and the fun Dress Form Accent Embellishments.
Step 1. Place Dress Form Accent Embellishment into embossing folder.
Step 2. Run fold through Sizzix or embossing machine.

The Dress Form will come out looking like this.
Step 3. Pat Dress Form (Raised side) with StazOn ink.

The dress form will look like this.

Step 4. Using Beacon 3N1 Adhesive and Clearsnap Fairy Dust Glitter, adhere glitter to desired areas on Dress Form.

Step 5. Trim out 12X12 Clear Scraps acrylic sheet to 4.5X6 (or desired size).
Step 6. Trim out Embossed patterned paper (Momenta) 4X5.5".
Step 7. Adhere embossed paper to front of card using 4 dots of Beacon Zip Dry or 3N1.
Step 8. Run StazOn ink along edges of trimmed acrylic. (as shown in photo above).
Step 9. Trim out 4.5X6" Patterned paper (Momenta used).
Step 10. Using bone folder, fold paper at 1".
Step 11. Adhere folded paper to Clear Scraps acrylic card base.
Step 12. Add bow and sentiments, adhere Dress Form. Allow to dry.
Thats it! A beautiful card in just 30-40 minutes.
Perfect for pretty much any occasion.
I hope you are trying the Clear Scraps acrylic!
It's not only amazing but easy to work with too.
Until next time-

Acrylic Sheet and Expression

Live Laugh Love Dream(resize)

Hello there! It's Irene here again. Today I would like to share with you all a layout which I've created using Clear Scraps acrylic 12"x12" sheet and a small acrylic "Dream" expression.

DSC_6433

The acrylic sheet allows me to create a see-through layer on the layout.

DSC_6427

I've stamped and inked the acrylic expression. To outline it, I've used a Zig Painty marker.

Hope you all find this layout inspirational!
