Clear Scraps & Stampendous Blog Hop DAY 6- Featuring CATHY & RITA!!

We have not ONE but TWO projects to share on the Clear Scraps blog today before you begin hopping...

ONE from the amazing Cathy....

I used one of Stampendous' GIANT flower stamps to be the sole design on the front of my acrylic album that I'll make into a garden journal this year.  I love that it takes up so much space - making it unneccessary to have any other embellishments.  I used StazOn to stamp the image on the front of the acrylic and then I painted it from behind the acrylic with Zig Painty Pens.  When the paint was dry, I added a piece of subtle-patterned paper behind the image so it would stand out and not get lost in the pages beyond this acrylic front cover.  A sticker-letter title and my album cover is ready to go!!  Now if I could only get my actual garden to cooperate this well.... Thanks Stampendous!

Cathy

And one more from the incredible RITA!-----

Beautiful work Rita

Clear Scraps & Stampendous Blog Hop DAY 4- Featuring LEAH!

Welcome to Day FOUR of our fabulous Stampendous and Clear Scraps blog hop!
Have you enjoyed yourselves so far this week?

Leah here with you today to share with you this layout I created
using Clear Scraps XL Deco Acrylic Shape.

LRC_CSStampendous_Summer
I created my floral embellishments using Stampendous Jumbo Tropical Stamp. I first stamped the flowers on pattern paper using Stazon Ink.

LRC_CSStampendous_Summer2

For the large tropical stamp I first stamped with VersaMark and then embossed with Stampendous Aged Gold embossing enamel. Then I painted the flower with water color paints, and added Mica Gilded fragments to the center of the flower. The gilded fragments are so chunky and delicious to create with.

LRC_CSStampendous_Summer3
For the finishing touches of this layout, I added Viva Decor Pearl pen to a few areas on the acrylic deco shape. This layout came together so quickly, and I loved how Stampendous and Clear Scraps products work so well together.

Adding an embellishment to a layout

Can't find the exact embellishment you need for a layout?  Acrylic is surely your answer. It's so versatile that you can make it be almost whatever you need it to be.

Need it white or pink?  Paint it.

Need it smaller?  Cut it down to size.

Need it 3-d?  Adhere it with foam tape or pop dots.

Need it subtle?  Use it clear so your paper shows through from the bottom.

Need it bold?  Alcohol ink or some adhesive jewels or glitter.

The possibilities are endless.

I recently completed an assignment for Scrapbook Magazine (in the UK) where they asked me to create a sketch, a simple, and also a little more complex rendering of the sketch.  As one of the features on my layout - I used an acrylic embellishment.....but not the same one, and not in the same way.

In my "simple" layout, I used a little acrylic bird from the XL birds set.  I wanted it subtle, but I still wanted it to have some presence to weigh down that top left corner so I painted the back of it white, then added blue rub-ons to the front.

A beautiful day - Scrapbook Magazine Sketch #1 - Cathy Schellenberg

On my more "complex" layout, I used a smaller piece of acrylic - a heart from the Heart mini-ornament album and because my top left corner was getting busy, I left it clear but outlined it with a paint marker, simply making a deeper dimension to my heart embellishment that was already there, but not taking away from the text in front of it.

Today, I choose Life - Scrapbook Magazine Sketch #2 - Cathy Schellenberg

These little pieces aren't hard, or big projects, but they pack a big punch when you layer them onto your layouts!!

Thanks,

Cathy

Happy Birthday with Send it Clear

Hello friends! Leah here with you today to share a sweet happy birthday card using the Cupcake Send it Clear acrylic card.

CSSICcupcake-2T
LRC_CS_SendItClear_Cupcake_Birthday

For the cupcake, I traced the edge of the cupcake onto pattern paper, cut it out, then adhered it to the cupcake shape on the card. For the wrapper, I used woodgrain washi tape, and for the cherry on top, I used Martha Stewart micro beads.

LRC_CS_SendItClear_Cupcake2_Birthday

I used Beacons 3-n-1 to adhere the beads on the acrylic, then to help seal the beads to the card, I used Glossy Accents. To finish off the front of the card I adhered Doodlebug jewels to create a confetti look.

LRC_CS_SendItClear_Cupcake3_Birthday

When you open up the card, you have a lovely space to write the special birthday person a message!

LRC_CS_SendItClear_Cupcake4_Birthday

There you have it, a festive, happy birthday card!

Are you ready for a HUGE BLOG HOP next week? We ARE! Clear Scraps is pairing up with Stampendous! for a week of amazing inspiration and prizes!

Double the fun!

One of my favorite things to do is to find new ways to use my Clear Scraps so that I can get more than one use out of them. I shown you before how to use them as a mask for misting. Today I am showing you another neat way to put those clear acrylic shapes to use! Embossing!

For this layout I started with a package of Clear Scraps acrylic arrows.

Csfavlittleboys1

I simply arranged the arrows under my paper where I wanted them and then ran them through my Spellbinders Grand Calibur with the embossing mat. If you don't have a amchine that will emboss for you, you could easily accomplish this look simply by using a stylus and running it around the edges of your shapes.

Csfavlittleboys2

Then I wanted my embossed areas to show up a tiny bit more. To give them some depth and definition I lightly inked on the raised edges.

Csfavlittleboys3

Csfavlittleboys4

For this next project I used the same acrylic arrows that I used for the above layout. However, this time I embellished the acrylic with some paint pens and washi tape.

A perfect way to get more for your money!

Quick Tag Techniques

I don't know about you but I think the world in general is just getting busier.....is it?  Or is it just me?

Either way, I'm finding I don't have the time to sit down and create great big projects on a daily basis like I used to :(  That makes me sad.  But...the good thing is, small projects like these tags still keep my creative juices flowing so I'm already in the zone when a lazy day happens along and I have more time.

Try some of these quick techniques on a smaller piece one of these days - I highly recommend stocking up on several of these little acrylic circles, flowers, and any number of the mini-ornament albums that can be pulled apart and used a page at a time sometimes instead of as an album.

On this acrylic flower  "Hello" tag, I painted the back of it, added a circle of patterned paper with a sentiment rub-on, attached the paper with a brad and tied it with fibers.  Done.

IMG_2396

On this heart shaped  "Love ya" tag, I used one page from a heart-shaped mini-ornament album (leaving me 4 more pages for future tags and cards).  I used a rub-on, a sentiment printed on my Epson Labelmaker (LW400) and a Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole for my brad to go through the arylic. Tied on a ribbon, and Done.

IMG_2398

For this large "Thinking of You" tag, I used 2 acrylic circles, sandwiched a large flower in between them, used a paint marker to highlight the embossed parts on the smaller circle (I ran it through my Big Shot with D'vine Swirls folder), and attached another Labelmaker sentiment with a big fabric brad.  Done.

IMG_2397

And last, but not least...

On this tag, I used rub-on adhesive to make a pattern which I flocked (yes, just like you can do on paper!!),  I sewed around the center circle and outlined the outside edge with paint marker.  Then I added, a Labelmaker sentiment stapled right onto the acrylic, HI in adhesive jewels and a pink ribbon at the top.  Done, done, done and Done :)

IMG_2399

Wouldn't it be cute to tie these around a little gift for someone??  Or better yet, use them as a main embellishment on a full-sized greeting card!

Thanks,

Cathy

Instagram tabbed album

Welcome Clear Scraps friends!
Leah here with you today to share with you the 3 tabbed 6x6 mini album I created.
CBA66tabal-2T
It comes with five sturdy chipboard pages.

I backed each page with pattern paper and sanded down the edges before I even knew what I wanted the album to be for. Then it hit me. I go through spells where I use Instagram a little, and a lot. April was a pretty busy Insta-month for me, so I dedicated this album to Instagram photos for April.

LRC_CLearScraps_01TabAlbum_Instagram

LRC_CLearScraps_01cTabAlbum_Instagram

I used several Silhouette Cameo die cuts on the cover.
I fit all of my April photos in here except for the ones on the cover.

Here are a few pages inside the album.

the woodland fairy...ATC

 Hey bloggers Rita Barakat here!
I love small things and today I have an acrylic ATC to share with you.
If you are not familiar an ATC it  is an Artist Trading Card-
 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches, (usually mixed media) art on a little card.
What I love about this size is you can try something different, experiment new techniques,
it doesn't take a days to finish and it's cute.
Most people create them to trade in the mail - I have not done that,
I like my little creations and am thinking about doing something different with them.
(I am just not sure what that is yet! LOL!)
This card actually has lots of steps
step 1.The fairy is stamped directly on the acrylic ATC.
( I used StazOn ink.)
step 2. Once dry, on the back of the acrylic
card I added a layer of  Glue
to some of the sections of the wings and dress
and allowed it to dry completely.
When it was dry (it will be clear not white) I added  my first color of glitter,
I rubbed it in using a light pressure,
removed any excess glitter, then with another color of  glitter
repeated step 2
with the other sections.
Step 3. I cute a white piece of cardstock
for the backing and colored it with a yellow Gelato.
Draw on the surface and spread the color with a wet paint brush.
step 4. I added another layer of glue on top of the
glittered areas and allowed it to dry completely. *
When it was dry was able to attach it to the acrylic.
I used Gel medium in the corners to keep them from separating -
I added glitter on top before it dried.
step 5. I cut out a sentiment and glued it on top of the card.
*Because I am working with acrylic I can't use a heat gun
and I have to wait for things to dry naturally,
so I am usually on working several cards at once.
sentiment - Crafty Secrets
