Butterflies and flowers...

must mean that spring is on the way.

                                          Csspringbanner1

at least that is what I am hoping! Last week we had two gorgeous sunny and warm days. The kind where my girlfriends and I got done with our tennis lesson and looked at each other and said "hmm, two more hours until we all have to pick kids up from school, lets go play for two more hours!". Ha, joke was on us...the weather forecast is calling for snow in the morning.

Today I am sharing with you a cute little spring project. This was the BUTTERFLY BANNER that I made for the Clear Scraps booth for CHA. Let me apologize for the not so great photos. This was one of those made in a time crunch projects and I had only one afternoon to get it photographed and sent off in the mail. Lighting wasn't optimal, but here it is regardless.

Here are some close ups so that you can get a better view...

I used papers from Basic Grey and dies from Spellbinders.

Thanks for stopping by today....hope you all get to enjoy sunshine and warmth soon!

Too big for a card?

I know that Clear Scraps has a lot of cool products out there but one of my favourites, from the moment it was first introduced, until now...is still the Clear & Chip line.  These great shapes are cut from both a sheet of chipboard and a really thin sheet of acrylic makign it easy to mix & match the two for a mini-album, or pick & choose which you want on your layout or card.  The one problem is that a lot of these shapes are quite large (Amy's Fashion purses, Holiday Treat's gingerbread houses and Caroline's Cafe's coffee cups, for instance).  But that doesn't have to stop you from using those shapes on cards as well as minis and layouts.

For this card, I intentionally cut my card slightly small so that the coffee cup would look larger and then I used that size-difference to reinforce my sentiment.

I started by painting an acrylic coffee cup - on the back of the cup so that the finished front of the cup is a really glossy looking cup.  I finished the cup up by adding on an actual Starbucks coffee cup sleeve.  (Did I mention, this set has 6 acrylic and 6 chipboard cups all in the same set - if you were making coffee invitations or something this would be the perfect way to do a full set of cards like this).

Starbucks card (1)

When my main acrylic embellishment was finished, I put it onto a card front - matching coloured cardstock, a nice white ribbon and a sentiment that supports my LARGE coffee cup.

Anyone else craving a Caramel Macchiato right now?

Acrylic Tag

My Life Tag(resize)Hi everyone! I'm finally back from another great teaching trip in Belgium and France! A trip with tons of acrylic goodness and creativity!

Today, I would like to share with you a tag which I've created using Clear Scraps acrylic half round tag.  I've used the elegant "Enchanted" line by Bo Bunny to create this tag.

Here are some close-ups on it.

To make the tag more interesting, I've cut the bottom of the tag and attached it again to the tag using some jump rings.

Hope you all find this tag inspirational and start playing with some acrylic soon!

Fun in the Sun!

Spring is right around the corner, which means Summer isn't far behind.
Soon we'll be opening up the pool again for the season, which lead me to thinking about all the fun we had out in the sun last year.

Today I'll be showing you step by step how I dressed up this Expressions Clear Word Title, Fun in the Sun.

CSSTfunsun-2T
I knew I wanted it to look fiery like the sun in the heat of Summer, so I chose these items to color this fun title.

1a
R17 copic marker
Alcohol Ink in Watermelon & Butterscotch
Studio Calico Mister Huey Spray in Custard
and I used Tim Holtz Alcohol ink applicator

Start off by working on a non-stick craft mat. Peel the protective covering off the back of the word title.
1

Grab your Alcohol ink applicator and put a couple drops of Watermelon & Butterscotch alcohol on the applicator. Unscrew the Mister Huey Custard and drop a couple of drops of that color near the butterscotch.

2

Dab the applicator with colors all over your word title until you're happy with the results.
3

To outline the edge of the title, I grabbed my R17 Copic Marker, (leaving the protective film on) and slowly traced around the edge of the title. The reason why I left the protective film on is in case my marker slipped on me while outlining. Sure enough, there were several times my marker slid off the edge onto the front of the letter. With the film in place, those marks will not be there once I pull the film off.

4

Once your outline is complete, go ahead and pull off the protective film.
Beautiful, yes?

Let's dress it up more.
On the front of the word title, add rub ons.
I chose to use a few tiny flowers.
Rub ons go on so easily onto Clear Scraps acrylic!
5

Try to place the rub ons strategically on the word title, if you think a little ahead, you can hide your glue behind the rub ons when its time to adhere the title.
I placed the pop dots right behind the rub ons on the backside.
6

Only thing left to do is place it on your project.
Here's a close up of mine on my layout.
7
With the title popped up, if you look closely, you can see the color shadow from the title on the background paper. I love that!

Anniversary Gifts

Good morning! Pinky here with a fun Anniversary or even wedding gift.

I was trying to figure out a way to commemorate a wedding date and thought a nice little acrylic plaque would be perfect. When I saw the hearts on the Clear Scraps Lacey Mixable Album I knew it would be perfect.

I used my Zip Dry to adhere these adorable buttons I found from Buttons Galore & More, they fit perfectly. I added the wedding date and the name.

Welcome March!

Good morning Clear Scraps friends,

Pinky here with a fun spring project. I love taking apart the Clear Scraps albums and making them into wall hangings, that is just what I did with the beautiful "Wave Album" today.

FamilyHanging1

I decided I wanted to make a spring wall hanging that was soft and pretty for Easter time with my family in mind. This is what I came up with.

FamilyHanging2
I used glitter around the edges to make it pop.

It was a fun project, I cannot wait to hang it in  my livingroom.

Welcome spring and welcome March!!!!
