A Sweet Spring Mini

Hi Everyone! Jennifer Priest here and I'm so excited to be posting my first post on the Clear Scraps Blog!!
I made a sweet mini album from the Large Pennant Banners pack by Clear Scraps featuring Imaginisce's new Berrylicious Collection and i-rock tool. This collection was so fun to work with! I also loved how easy the Clear Scraps acrylic is to work with.
I used 4 of the pennants from the Large Pennant Banners pack, saving the other 3 pennants in the pack for another project. After peeling the protective film from each side of each pennant, I swiped the edges of the pennants with Clear Embossing ink by Clearsnap. I then sprinkled white embossing powder on the inked edges.
I used a heat gun to heat set the embossing powder and in the process, the acrylic softened and was pliable while warm. I gently "ruffled" the edges of the acylic to make for "wavy" pennants. The embossing powder itself gives the acrylic pennants a bit of texture but the ruffles create even more visual interest and texture.

After the pennants had cooled, I cut several pieces of chipboard to 5" x 6" and covered them with paper. I added a narrow strip of coordinating paper to the acrylic pennants, punching a scalloped border on one edge of the paper. I then punched holes in the chipboard pages and threaded a ribbon through to bind the book. The trick to binding a book with ribbon is to leave a little slack in the ribbon to allow for the pages to turn and lay flat side-by-side.
I decorated the pages with coordinating Berrylicious Collection stickers and diecuts.  I used a heavy duty stapler to attach some of the elements to the chipboard and acrylic pages alike. Staples are so fun!
I used the i-rock tool by Imaginisce to add bling to the cover of the book and to some of the stickers in the Berrylicious Collection. The i-rock works really quickly - I love that it is battery powered and only heats up when you press the button and hold it down. Great if you have little kids!
After all of the pages were decorated, I sprayed the entire album with Smooch Spritz ink. This ink dries on the acrylic in about 10 minutes and is a great way to "antique" pages and help bring all the colors and elements together.
This cute little book was then ready for photos! Wallet photos work great for this kind of book because they fit well in the space. I used photos from a recent trip to the California Poppy Reserve - the colors are perfect for this fresh spring paper. And the pennants act as windows to each following chipboard page.

I hope this inspires you to try using heat to experiment with texture on your acrylic projects. Happy Creating!

Acrylic Blossoms

Hi everybody! It's Heidi, and I am so excited to be here, blogging with Clear Scraps for the first time!

We all love flowers, right?! I know that I am constantly making little blossoms to put in my girls' hair, attaching them onto their headbands and art journals, not to mention creating them for all the other countless projects that are spread out all over my house. Flowers in every form just add a bit of beauty to things, and using Clear Scraps acrylic to make them, is even more fun. The clear acrylic is perfect for painting the blossoms and creating their delicate, glass-like, appearance!

AprilTutorialDetail
Have you wondered how to make pretty little embellishments like these? They are so simple to make, much like the paper flowers we are all used to putting together. My video tutorial will walk you through the basic steps - and then you can throw in whatever else you'd like to jazz these little pretties up. I hope you enjoy!

xx Heidi

Birthday Banner Fun!!!!

Hello and good Monday morning everyone. I am so excited to share this project with you today.   It's another gift for my nieces 13 birthday.  I really had so much fun doing this Clear Scraps Birthday Banner Project.  What a fun gift for anyone but most specially for young people like my niece. She really loved it,  and It looks really cool hanged by her bedroom window.  Also, used the Imaginisce - Berrylicious Collection Set  which was an awesome match for my project.  I love it!

So, here's a brief instruction of how I did it. :)

Step 1 –  I trace and cut the shapes of the banner sheet into my papers and photos.

Step 2 – I adhere the papers and photos under the clear acrylic.  I want my niece to  enjoy it longer and by doing so it will protect the photos and papers from dust and stuff .  (Adhere by putting a line of dotted glue  at the edge)

Step3 – To cover up the dotted glue, I used Imaginisce Glam Rock Pearl and the I-Rock tool.

Step4 – I then added some embellishments for added texture.

Step5 – I used ribbons to connect the banner.

Precious

HI!

It's Hilde showing you a layout which I created recently.

First I want to thank Imaginisce for sponsoring the Clear Scraps Design Team. When I saw these amazing papers from the Berrylicious Collection I just wanted to use them.

I used a Clear Scraps Deco Sheet which I decorated with white paint. I used a sponge and just stamped the paint on the sheet.

I also used the paint on the new Expressions. These are just amazing!!

Tri -Fold Rectangle Frame for a Gift

Today, I am sharing with you this project I made for my nieces 13th birthday. I used the spray painting and masking  technique with this Clear Scraps Tri Fold Acrylic Frame  as well.  Honestly, I can't get enough of masks and paint, well at  least for now. :)  I really enjoyed making this for my niece, it makes such a great gift...... and who doesn't love a personal hand made gift, right! :)

So with this project; I used two shades of color paint. First - I painted the two side frames with white and let it dry. Once it dries I laid my butterfly masks and spray painted with green.  Make sure that it's absolutely dry before doing the masking;  Next -  I then embellished the middle frame with patterned papers, transparency and my nieces photo. Finishing the project with the touch of blue and hot pink Flower Porcelain by Accent Scrapbooking,  7Gypsies tag, old Daisy D's rub-ons, Martha Stewart Butterfly punch,  and ribbon to connect the frames.

My Blog!!!

Come get misty with me.

One of the latest crazes in the scrapping world is misting. You can use mist all by it's little lonesome or you can use it with a mask to get some detailed shapes. Did you know that you can mist on Clear Scraps acrylic? You can! There are two important things you need to know before you attempt it though. The first, is give yourself plenty of drying time. I always mist my acrylic before I go to be and then let it sit all night so that it is nice and dry the next day. The second thing you need to know is to use a sealer over the top. Most of the mists that are out there in the market are water soluble. I have sweaty hands and let just say...um not compatible! I give a quick spray of Super Seal over the top of the dry mist to set it.

All right, now let's get onto the project that I have to share with you today. A couple of months ago when perusing the kitchen gadgets at Ikea I came across these plastic templates that were meant to be used as templates to decorate the top of a cake with. You place it on top of a cake and sprinkle powdered sugar over the top, lift up the template and left with the design. Well, although I love to bake, I admittedly immediately thought of the plethora of mists that I have and thought these templates would work even better in my scrap room. They are plastic...which meant washable and reusable...SCORE!

For this layout I started with the large dot from the XL Dot shapes, then placed the plastic template over the top and misted all around the edges (I misted on the back simply because I prefer the dimensional look of it that way). Let it dry over night. Then I sprayed a sealer over the dried mist. Next I flipped the shape over and decorated the front.

                                                     Cshappyboy1

I outlined the zig zag with a ZIG paint pen and then applied the white dots with Ranger Enamel Accents in white.

Other products used: Paper and Chipboard from My Mind's Eye

                                         Floss: DMC

                                         Buttons: Papertrey Ink

                                         Glitter Letter Stickers: Sassafrass

                                         Ink: Ranger

Pull out those mists and start spraying! Make sure to share your projects with us!

Spray Painting/Masking Tutorial! - XL Clear Word Title

Today, I will share with you this project I made using spray paint and masks. A mask is the opposite of a stencil. It's made from a flexible, reusable material with a repositionable adhesive on the back so the image will stay in place as you apply paint or medium over the top.

Heidi Swapp mask is my favorite to use but not limited to of course.

My project is a Canvas Wall Hanging. I spray painted the canvas with yellow, green and a touch of white. I used  Clear Scraps XL word title. I wanted to give my project a whimsical feel to it.

Altering the XL-Clear Scraps Word.

Position the mask on top of the clear word, then spray until all the clear area is covered with paint. Let it dry for few minutes, then pull off the mask to reveal the shaped clear area.

You can also use scraps from your stash as a mask, such shaped chipboards.

and so many more ideas, I'm sure!

So now I have 2 pages that are ready to be embellished.  Untitled-1a
