A quick little card

Happy Spring you all! Tonya here today with a quick little card. For this card I used the Mini Butterfly album. I used just one of the pieces. Grabbed a bottle of Stickles and went around the edges of the shape and then I just layered it with some other embellishments to make a focal point.

                                                     Csbfcard2

Then I used the hole that was in the tip of the wing to add a little tag with my sentiment on it.

Super easy way to welcome Spring!

A little help in the kitchen...

When I received one of the new Clear Scraps Tri-folds I decided that I wanted to do something functional with it. After some time pondering I came up with a clever little idea...use it as a recipe holder. You know the kind that sit out on the counter and hold your recipe for you while you are cooking?

                                                     Cstrifold1

Starting with one of Echo Park's newest lines, For the Record, I trimmed out large rectangles to fit each of the three pieces. I then used a Papertrey Ink die to make the center label and to cut out the two spiral bound notebook pieces of paper.

Do any of you have a history of going a little overboard shopping from QVC years ago? I admit, I bought way TOO much scrapping booking items from them. One of those items was a glue called "Wacky Tack". I still haven't found much use for it, but it came in handy for this idea. It is a sponge tip bottle of glue that when you put it on it is wet and when it dries creates a post-it like adhesive, one that you can reposition over and over. For this project I put it on the main large rectangle bases so that you could change the recipes and the menu and shopping lists to match each recipe.

                                                     Cstrifold2

You can see from the photo above that I took the little cut out hearts from the corners and used those as my 'O's'.

                                                     Cstrifold3

                                                     Cstrifold4

Hope this gave all of you another idea on a different way to use the new Tri-folds.

~Card Making Made Easy w/ Acrylic~

Good morning from beautiful TN! Pinky here with card making made easy! I always forget that cards come in all shapes and sizes, but lately this has been my favorite way to make cards using acrylic.

BirthdayCard1

Just make it like a postcard! I can get 4 cards out of one sheet of Clear Scraps 12X12 acrylic! Now that is the way to make a card!!

Birthdaycard2

You can see I just decorate the front the same as any other card then I decorate the back and write my sentiment. Here is the back of the card.

Birthdaycard3

I actually wrote in white pen when I sent the card to my Mother in Law. Easy and everyone is so surprised to get an acrylic card! It is completely fun, and very practical.

Happy Crafting my friends! Stay tuned for tomorrow's giveaway!

Strawberry Sweet!!

You Are My Sweet Pea(resize)

Hello everyone! Today, I would like to share this layout which I've created using Clear Scraps acrylic XL scallop shape. The paper line that I've used on this layout is the "Garden Variety" line by Cosmo Cricket. The patterns on this paper line actually inspires me for the design of this layout.

Here are some close-ups on it.

DSC_0019

I've used a Zig Painty marker to outline the scallops and then, use Viva Decor red pearl pen to cerate the dots. I really love the look of it. Doesn't it looks liked some juicy sweet strawberries?

Hope you all like today's post and start playing with some acrylics soon! You can refer to my blog to see more close-ups and details on this layout.

Let It Snow-Man

Hi everyone! It's me Adora.

Spring has officially started but not quite in our neck of the woods, here in Seattle. :)  The winter cold air seems to linger a little bit more as usual.  So, to scrap this photo of my grandson with the snowman, feels just right.  I have to say I also couldn't resist to do this layout when I saw these  Clear Scraps Mini Snowman and Mini Snowflakes,  they are the cutest. It's a great mini album but I used it to embellished this page . I really did very little in embellishing these cuties. I wanted it more to be simple and so I simply dress them up. Yup, made a little hat and scarf so easy and fast, and yet so adorable. I think :)

You and Me *scallop acrylic album*

hello, hello!

Today I want to share with you how I altered a scallop acrylic album which debuted at recent CHA.

You and me top load album

First off, I want to say how clever Clear Scraps are to make these acrylic albums. They are top loading which is one of the easiest ways to slid your scrapbook pages in and out of the albums plus it gives you a great way to decorate the front and back of the actual album to match the pages inside. Seriously, how clever is that?!

You and me top load album (1)

So for this particular album, I added some stickles around the scallops on both the front and back side of the album cover. I love doing this little step because it adds some shine to the pieces as well as emphasize it's shape. After all, acrylics are clear and it needs that little boost of color and shape emphasis.

You and me top load album (2)

I then covered the front and back with pattern paper. I used papers from My Mind's Eye for this particular album and I loved how the shaped pattern paper that I used in the front had the scallop edge which went well together with the shape of the album.

You and me top load album (3)
For acrylic pieces, make sure you mirror your design, especially on the placement of your papers so that your adhesive wont' show.

So that's it. Make sure you check out these and other new stuff from Clear Scraps here.

Till next time,

Grace

Album of the "First"

First Mini Album(resize)

I'm sure we have many many "first" in our and our love ones lives. They are definitely worth scrapping about! Today, I would like to share with you all an album of mine titled "First". This album documents my son's first day in grade one.

I've used the acrylic travel brag bag album by Clear Scraps to create this album. The "school zone" paper line by Moxxie is perfect for this album. Below are some details and pages in this album.

I've used some Viva Decor pearl pen to detail on every embellishment and page.

This is such a fun and colourful album to create. Now, make sure you capture some pictures of your "firsts" and start scrapping them!

Make a splash!

The new Clear Scraps Expressions Clear Word titles are amazing for layouts of course, but in this case, I chose to make mine into a card.  It's a slightly oversized card (5"x7") to accomodate the word SPLASH which is about 6" long.  I used 2 colours of paint, applied with bubblewrap and matted it on white to give the acrylic an extra 3 layers of colour against the blue card.

Splash card - Clear Scraps Expressions

I'm sure there are a hundred other cards you can think of with the other Small Expressions Clear Word Titles, such as:  Believe, Family, Friends, Dream, Smile!, and many more.  Check them out here:  Expressions

Thanks!!

Cathy

Lucky banner + how to tutorial

Hello everyone.

Today I wanted to share with you a project I made using the beautiful acrylic banner that Clear Scraps offer.

DSC_0090

I decided to make a banner with the lucky theme to coincide with St. Patrick's day which we celebrate this month. Let me share with you how I did this project....

DSC_0061

first I gathered my supplies. I wanted the project to be mainly green in color to emphasize the theme so that's the first thing I gathered. NOTE: I tend to create as I go. That's my main process so you will notice that in this pile, I've used some and tossed others.

DSC_0064

After gathering my supplies, I peeled the protective film over the acrylic banners and painted them green using glitter paint from Tattered Angels. I love that this will give the acrylics some color and shimmer too.

DSC_0066

Then I cut some papers from Jillibean soup that will go inside the banners. To make sure it'll fit perfectly inside, I measured the banner first and then subtracted 1/2" from that number for the size of my papers.

DSC_0067

I then worked on the papers that will hold my letter stickers. I wanted it to have that corrugated feel that Jillibean Soup in known for so I brougth out my paper crimper (BTW, who still uses this today?) and added some texture to kraft colored cardstock. I also rounded the corners.

DSC_0069

After that, I layered it onto yellow cardstock and trimmed the edges of that with scallop scissor. When that was done, I added my letter stickers (from Basic Grey) onto the blocks.

DSC_0070

I love all the textures and designs on the letter blocks.

DSC_0073

I then worked on the acrylic some more by adding Stickles glitter glue around the edges to emphasize the shape of it. I then walked away for a bit to let the project dry before continuing.

DSC_0079

When the glitter glue was dried, I inked the pattern papers' edges with brown ink. See that mishap on the paper? too much inking. I'm not worried about that though because I can cover that with flower later on.

DSC_0081

Next on the process was assembling the banner. I adhered the pattern papers and letter blocks on top of the acrylic banners.

DSC_0084

Next comes the fun part...embellishing the banner. I grabbed my green flowers and some green bling and pearls and went to town with them.

DSC_0085

I decided to layer a bunch of flowers together and finished it off with a green bling. I added three of these and for the other two banners, I added a felt butterfly (from Jenni Bowlin Studios) plus a punched out butterfly using Martha Stewart Crafts punch using more Jillibean Soup paper.

DSC_0087

After that I worked on putting each banner together. I did this with tying a grosgrain green ribbon and tying it into a ribbon.

DSC_0088

This is how I did the edges. I needed a long piece so I can hang it up and then made a bow which I adhered onto the acrylic.

DSC_0089

The bows were looking a bit plain to me so I added more bling to it. I decided to go with red to make the shine of the bling pop up against the green ribbon.

So there you have it. Here's another look at the finished banner and some close ups....

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial and was inspired to make your very own lucky banner.

Till next time,
