Another way to use glitter.

I will admit...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE glitter. I don't care if it's messy and I end up wearing it all day. I adore the sparkle and dimension of it. For this project I started with a large 12x12 scallop shape page, and grabbed my Scor-tape and glitter.

Then I simply ran a line of Scor-Tape from the center of each scallop on the edge toward the center of the page.  I decided to use 4 different colors of glitter. So, I took the protective top coat off of every 4th strip of tape and then applied one color to those four strips and then so on until I had all four colors done.

Super easy, super quick, and great staying power. Once you have brushed the excess glitter off of the Score-Tape the rest of the glitter stays nicely adhered to the tape.

Acrylic Flowers

Irritated(resize)

Hello everyone! It's Irene here again. Today, I would like to share with you a layout that I've created using some Clear Scraps acrylic flowers. Besides the acrylic stars in my last blog post, the acrylic flower is the next most used item on tons of my projects.

Here are some details on it.

DSC_0589

DSC_0577
Here are the steps to create the flowers.

1) Ink the acrylic flower with various alcohol inks. You can combine a few colours of alcohol ink. Use an alcohol ink applicator to create the marble effect.

2) Use a scissors to cut in between each petal of the acrylic flower. Tip: Do not cut all the way to the middle.

3) Turn the flower over to it's back and use a black Zig Painty marker or acrylic paint to highlight the edges of the flower.

4) Turn the flower to its front and then punch a hole in the middle of it. Fold up all the petals.

5) Highlight the edges of each petal with Stickles.

6) Fold a paper doily with pleats to form a circle and ink it's edges with distress ink. Attach it to the middle of the acrylic flower and onto the layout with a decorative brad.

Isn't this easy? You can create these acrylic flowers in tons of different colours to match your projects. If you can't find a paper doily, why not use a flower punch and punch out a paper flower to add to the acrylic flower instead. Try it! You can check out more details on this layout at my blog

Clear Scraps for cardmakers

I would consider myself a card-maker at heart.  Long before I began actual "scrapbooking" as I know it today, I was putting stickers on paper and sending them to people LOL.  I still love the sending/giving aspect of cards as a way of blessing people and as an artist, I still love the smaller size of a card canvas to work on.  But smaller size, doesn't mean I can't incorporate some of my favourite products...like the Clear Scraps Minis.  It just means, that instead of one mini-album, I get 5 cards for my $$.

IMG_0989

For this particular card, I used Ranger alcohol ink to dye the tree and Copics to add brown to the trunk.  The hole in the top, intended for the ring to hold the whole album together, makes a perfect place to add a ribbon or brad to embellish my tree.

Thanks,

Cathy

***Butterfly photo tutorial***

Hi!

It's Hilde again with a fun photo tutorial to show you.

I thought of this tutorial when I was lying in bed and I knew this would work!! You will have so much fun creating these selfmade butterflies!

You need to have a 12 x 12 inch acrylic sheet to create lots of butterflies.

You also need some stazon ink and a butterfly stamp.

P2108876

Stamp the image onto the acrylic sheet:

P2108877

Cut out the image:

P2108879

Now comes the fun part! Use your heattool to heat up the acrylic. It will become flexible and you can curl up the wings.

Be careful because your fingers will become hot!!

P2108881

And as a final touch you can decorate the butterfly with stickles and pearl dots.

P2108883

Don't they just look awesome?!!!!

I think I will try something like this with flower images soon!

Have a great day,

Hilde

Combining acrylic for wall hangings

Combining the brand new Cast Acrylic Home Decor pieces and the Large Expressions Words is one of my favourite new things to do.  I've made 2 pieces in the last few weeks that I'm really happy with.

IMG_1000

One is for Christmas - over, I know...but I'll be pulling this out year after year I think to hang on my black refrigerator.  The word BELIEVE I coloured gold with the gold metallic StazOn and then added red jewels from Kaisercraft.  I also used the gold ink to stamp a swirl design on the new cast acrylic frame.  A few flowers, some Basic Grey stickers and a border of red rickrack finish off the whole thing and I used a red ribbon I found at my thrift store to hang it.

The second one I made, I changed it up a little and instead of layering the word on the frame, I punched holes in the word and hung it with chains underneath.

IMG_1004

I embellished both types of acrylic with a ton of Viva Decor's glitter gel and paints, Heidi Swapp flowers, random buttons and beads (held on with a big goopy mess of Glossy Accents) and some KI Soup letters.  I'm excited to hang this in my daughter's room which, by the way, I just painted in Snow Cone Green and bright teal.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cathy

Chipboard Flower Brag bag!

Rita Barakat here with a mini!!!

I love mini albums because they are small and quick, easy to start and finish a project! In one (ok maybe a couple) sitting(s)! For this mini I used a totally cute chipboard mini album “Chipboard flower brag bag” from Clear Scraps. A good base with a fun shape is a plus!

Using the Bind-it-All with Clear Scraps

I bought myself a Bind-it-All for my birthday a few years ago, never dreaming that still to this day, it would be one of my favourite tools.  I had planned to just make little sketch books for my kids to have in church and maybe a journal or two for myself.  Imagine my excitement when I realized I could punch through my Clear Scraps acrylic with it!!!

IMG_1020

I make this little sample journal (2 Clear Scraps ATCs, and some paper cut from recipe cards) for the technique sample display at CHA this year.  Such a cute size that I'm going to make a whole pile of these for my school kids I think...or for birthday party goodie bags!

Be true album (2) And even the slightly thicker acrylic in the Clear Scraps Albums is no match for the Bind-it-All.  This album, originally intended to attach together with a ring on the left-hand-side, now attaches with a wire coil across the top, allowing me even more room inside for paper, pictures and journaling.  Try it....I'm certain you'll be making journals for everyone you know in no time!

Thanks,

Cathy

Don't know what to do with acrylic?

Hi all! Rita  Barakat here and recently I have been hearing over and over again that people love the look of acrylic but don't know what to do with it. Well Clear Scraps just came out with these Tri Folds in cast acrylic and I thought this would be a good opportunity to address some of those fears. It looks gorgeous with vellum and pattern papers.  I cut out several flowers to adorn the bottom of the frame. I used ribbon to hold the frame together. Rub ons work great on acrylic -all the words you see here are rub ons.

I used Glossy Accents to adhere the paper onto the small butterflies. The small round flowers are a lighter acrylic and I embossed those with the Cuttlebug. I also used Shimmerz then held the frames in place with Glossy Accents.

Because of the gorgeous clear crisp look of the Cast acrylic I wanted to leave some of the parts blank - also allowing it to blend in wherever I choose to display this project. The cast acrylic is thicker, stronger and cannot be cut or embossed. ( At least not by us- look at those butterflies!)

Think of Acrylic as a pattern paper for your background- don't cover all of it up, but don't be afraid to just go for it like a scrapbook page!

More Acrylic Stars

Pleasant Surprise(resize)
Today, I would like to share with you all a recent layout that I've created using some fun Clear Scraps acrylic stars! I'm sure some of you had seen me using these little fun acrylic pieces over and over again. Yes! It's that addictive and versatile! It is a simple 1, 2, 3 step to dress up these acrylic stars and use it on your projects. I'll explained more below.

DSC_5909

DSC_5910

I used these acrylic stars as shapes of layering on this layout. I've traced the star onto the pattern papers and then cut them out to attach to the acrylic stars from its back.  If you want to decorate it further, simply just add some details using pearl pens. I've used Viva Decor's pearl pen on my star and later add some other pieces on top of it.

Isn't this simple? I know most of us are a little lost when it comes to boys pages as we will try to avoid any flowers on them. These stars are so versatile as its perfect for any boys, girls, masculine or feminine projects. Check out my blog for more details on this layout. Enjoy!

Love is the theme.

It's that time of the year where everything is coming up pink, red, and white. Valentine's day is upon and us and love is in the air. In honor to help celebrate this day I made a banner to string across our mantle.

Using the Clear Scraps Small Pennant Banner and some My Mind's Eye papers I created a banner with love in mind.

                                            Cspennant1

I started by adhering glitter around each pennant piece using Scor-tape.

                                        Cspennant2

Next I trimmed out the inside piece of paper making sure that the acrylic was visible between the glitter and the paper.

                                          Cspennant3

Then I inked the edges, sewed around the edges and die cut the center with a heart shape die. Did this for each of the pennant pieces.

                                           Cspennant4

Next I die cut the pink pieces along the top, inked and sewed those.  Applied the brads to each center and tied a bow with baker's twine on each of them.

                                          Cspennant5

Next, I adhered those strips to the tops of each pennant piece using pop dots.

                                           Cspennant6

The next step was to apply to the letter stickers with pop dots and then adhere the pearls on each side of the letter stickers.

                                           Cspennant7

Lastly,  I stamped the birdies and dyed some seam binding to match and tied the pieces all together.

                                           Cspennant8

Hope you all have a wonderful and lovely Valentine's Day!
