Making acrylic layouts easy!

Pinky here with Clear Scraps today, good morning! When I tell someone I design with Clear Scraps typically the first thing I hear is "Oh I am afraid of acrylic, I don't even know where to start"

I am here today to make it easy for you and this is the first step. A very simply but effective acrylic layout using the 12X12 Clear Scraps acrylic sheet. I guarantee once you try it you will want to learn more! I made this layout in an easy to follow design so you can see how easy working with acrylic can be. I will be making more advanced layouts and projects as time goes on.

ThemomentLO1

Here is the supplies needed:

12X12 Clear Scraps acrylic sheet, 12X8 sheet of scrapbook paper, 2.5" lace (optional) XL photo 8X10 is a great size, 4.5"X 9-10" shaped paper, 4.5" die cut piece (give or take an inch), twine (optional) staples (optional)

Instructions
Step1. Remove film on acrylic.

Step 2. Distress and ink 8X12 piece of patterned paper then adhere 8X12 sheet of paper to front of acrylic.

Step 3. Using vintage lace or even lace card stock adhere  lace to back of acrylic layout so the edges will show through to the front of the page.

Step 4. Adhere shaped paper in right upper corner, leaving a few extra inches on bottom and overlapping on the top edges. *refer to layout photo above*

Step 5. Adhere XL photo to middle of the page.

Step 6. Add die cut and embellishments with foam pop dots.  TheMomentLO3

Now wasn't that easy?? And the layout is fabulous and has that extra touch with the lace behind the acrylic!

ThemomentLO2
Step 7. Add journaling or your own personal touches and you are done!

I really hope you decide to try acrylic, it really is amazing and beautiful too. You can find so many ideas on my blog and more tutorials, instructional videos, and family fun right here http://www.blueyecicle.blogspot.com/

Happy New Year everyone!!!!!

Butterfly Brag Bag Album

I have been really busy the last few days. My 2 girls were having a sleepover at my husbands parents. So I had so much time to create....and I loved it!

I finished a mini album which I wanted to start a long time ago, but never found the time.

It's the acrylic version of the Butterfly Brag Bag album. I love the shape of this album.

I used vellum papers together with Glimmer Mist. That way the vellum curled up which gives a nice effect. So you see edges of the acrylic album popping behind the vellum.

Very easy and it gives you the opportunity to create an amazing album!

Let it snow Card

Hello Everyone...  It's me Elisa and I today I am taking a few of my favorite Clear Scraps products, Inks, gels etc and mixing them together to create a fun clear card.

Snowflake card1a 2010

Yes even the card itself is clear.  I love the 12x12 Clear Acrylic sheets because  not only can you cut them down for cards but you can put a piece of it through your Sizzix and die cut any shape you like with your Sizzix as well as using any embossing folder you might have to add texture to your acrylic pieces.

Products used:

Simple tips and instructions.

  • Emboss your pieces first with the clear coating still on
  • Cut your 12x12 Acrylic to desired card size I did 8.5 x 5x5 and scored with the coating still on.
  • remove coating from all sides
  • Ink the back of the  snowflake with Metallic Silver StazOn
  • Using the blue Viva Glittered gel to further emboss the embossed image of the snowflake and set it aside to dry. (Takes about 30 min to 1 hour to dry)
  • Using the Krylon red shimmer pen and colored the embossed image and set aside to dry (takes just a few min)
  • While the pieces are drying punch some snowflakes out of the Bazill bling and adhered them to the front of the card using Beacon 3in1 adhesive
  • Center the Clear Scraps Buckle frame and adhered with Glue Arts Mini squares (they fit perfectly behind the embossed image)
  • center the Clear Scraps Mini Snowflake and adhered to the frame with Glue Arts Mini Square.  Tie a bow with the ribbon and add it to the top of the snowflake.
  • Using the Viva White Pearls  add some pearl dots to the snowflakes big and small aswell as the card itself and set aside to dry.

I hope you enjoyed this post and see how easy it is to use Clear Scraps Acrylic pieces as embellishments and how easy it is to hide your adhesives behide bits of color etc.

Please be sure to link us up to any of your Clear Scraps creations as we always enjoy seeing what you do with Acrylic.

Till next time.. Happy Crafting

A quickie!

This is a super easy idea on a way to make a super quick tag. Perfect for the holidays or for a birthday or for any gift. Once I decided on what I wanted to do it all came together extremely fast.

I started with a large Angle Tag (love that you get 2 small and 2 large in a package). Got out my Big Shot and an embossing folder. Inserted the Clear Scraps tag into the embossing folder, ran it through the Big Shot and I had one lovely embossed tag. Next  I wanted to add a little bit of color so I colored the backside of the ornaments with my Copic markers. To top it off I stamped a sentiment on the front with StazOn, added a few jewels, and some ribbon. There you have it, quick and easy!

You might even have time to make a few to put on your Christmas packages this week!

Your amazing eyes

Hi you all! It's Hilde again showing you a layout where I used some yummie Clear Scraps items!

I used a XL Deco Sheet as a base on the kraft cardstock. I punched little holes around the corner of the entire sheet. I waved some lace through the holes and then added Tim Holtz ink around the entire sheet. When that was dry I added liquid pearls as a finishing touch.

PC168409

From a acrylic sheet I punched some flowers which I embossed with the Big Shot. They give some nice touches to the layout. The Vintage Chipboard Frames are also Clear Scraps. They have that darker frame of it's own...I love them! You do not even have to ink them!

Have a great day and thanks for hopping by!

Imagine

You still have time to check out the Blog Hop! A winner will be chosen tomorrow!

Imagine(resize)

Hello everyone! It's me, Irene here again. Today, I would like to share with you all the layout above that I've created with a little imagination of mine. In this layout, I've used two pieces from an  acrylic banner by Clear Scraps to create the wings for the photograph. Also take a look how I've used some other separate pieces to create the hand mirror.

Below are some close-ups on the wings,

DSC_0007
DSC_0008

I've stamped on each acrylic piece using a texture stamp and glue pad. Later, I've sprinkled some fine glitters over it. To highlight it's edges, I've dab some acrylic paint around it's edges. To further dress it up, I've applied some Stickles and pearls on it.

Try using a little imagination and make your layouts more interesting and fun!
