Mix Match of Acrylics

Just You And I(resize)

Today, I would like to share a little on how I've mix and match the acrylics element in my layout above.  In this layout, I've used Clear Scraps XL deco as the base, an acrylic deco frame and some acrylic flowers.

To bring out all the acrylic element on it, I've used various techniques to differentiate them.

DSC_0138

I've added some layers in between the acrylic elements. This will separate them visually. I've also create some differences in design and colour on it to create a more interesting look.

DSC_0147

I've embossed and stamped the acrylic deco frame with alcohol ink to create the metal look.

Hope you all like my take on this "mix match of acrylics" layout. Try mixing and matching some acrylics on your projects too! Have some acrylics fun!!

Creatively Creating With Acrylic

Good morning from headquarters! Do you remember the Halloween contest we had? Even though it is after Halloween we just had to share this adorable sign from Erin.  http://erinscrafts.blogspot.com/

Think of all the holidays you could apply this too! Maybe a J for JOY on Christmas or any holiday. Clear Scraps has the perfect accent for any crafting project from home decor to scrapbooking.

Erincontest

See how she ran the Clear Scraps acrylic through the Cuttlebug and misted it? Amazing! It adds the PERFECT accent piece.

This was Erin's entry for the Clear Scraps Halloween Contest and it is beautiful. Thank you everyone who entered, if you would like your project featured on Clear Scraps be sure to follow/check in and send a picture to us! Be published online by Clear Scraps.

We love seeing your creative ideas at work.

*Come back tomorrow for the WINNER of last week's giveaway!*

I can't believe...

that I am going to talk Christmas before Thanksgiving! You see, I won't entertain the thought of Christmas until Halloween and Thanksgiving have both come and gone. I wish the stores and commercials felt the same way...

So in honor of our latest contest I'm going to share a gingerbread banner with you that I created a while ago. This one has been on display in the Clear Scraps booth at many of the last trade shows that the company has been in attendance. Our owner Susan emailed me to say that she has received many requests that it be put on our blog...so, without further ado...here it is!

First, I have to apologize. These banners can be so difficult to photograph in their entirety because they can be so long and by the time you stand back far enough to fit the whole thing in the camera frame you have lost a lot of your close up details. So check out each piece individually and just imagine how darn cute it is hung up on your holiday mantel! ;)

Remember you can click on any picture to view the image larger.

                                         Csgbbanner1

Now here are some close ups of the individual pieces...

The house...note the little girl peeking out of the window. Hee!

                                          Csgbbanner2

I used alcohol inks on the backside of the chimney.

                                          Csgbbanner3

Propped the door open with pop dots on one side.

                                            Csbgbbanner5

On both the gingerbread men and the snowflakes, I first painted the front of the acrylic shapes with Modge Podge and then covered them with glitter while it was still wet. After that had dried I sprayed then with Super Seal (I love this stuff...it makes glitter stay put!)

                                            Csgbbanner6

The other gingerbread men I covered with patterned paper that I had die cut a heart out of. Using StazOn opaque white ink I then stamped a snowflake on the backside of the acrylic so that you could see it through the heart.

Products:

Clear Scraps Gingerbread Banner

Patterned Papers and Chipboard Collage Press Joyride

Stamps Papertrey Ink

Felt snowflakes...sorry I took them off of a Christmas that I received last year.

Ribbon is seam binding hand dyed by me

Thanks for stopping by today and taking a peek,

A few Tips:

I embossed all my Pieces first

I filled in some of the embossed images with Viva Gel Medium (as seen in the last photo)

Use a clear adhesive such as Beacon's Zip Dry or 3 in 1 quick dry adhesive.

When applying the inks I used the Ranger Inking tool.. It works great with the distress inks as well as with Staz-on
