Acrylic flower Brag Bag

Here's your bloghostes for today; Hilde! I am going to show you a new mini album I did using the amazing Brag Bags. Don't you just love these? I think they are my faves at the moment.

I had some photos which weren't really useful on a layout, so I decided to create a mini album with them. We as a DT had a wonderful sponsor. My Minds Eye sponsored the DT with these amazing papers. They were wonderful for this mini album where I used photos of Amy during her first swimming lesson.

Glimpses of Spring

We had a beautiful day today in Oregon. Everywhere I look there are glimpses of spring. Trees are leafing, bulbs are emerging, and the sun is making occasional appearances. Today I have one of the brand new brag bags to share with you. It also makes me think of spring as it has a fabulous butterfly shape. Half a butterfly when closed and when you open it you are greeted with a fully open butterfly shape. 

I used My Minds Eye papers with this...the colors in this collection also made me think of spring! :)

Did you notice the handles? I think they turned out so cool, I wrapped them with DMC floss!

More possibilities!

It's your girl from Malaysia again! Today, I'm going to share my project using one of Clear Scraps latest release, the birthday banner. I believed some of my fellow design teams members had showed you various ways you could decorate these cute banners and today I'll be sharing my version of it. It's not a birthday banner! It's a banner to decorate my little girl's bed frame.

 
I've spelled out her name using the banner pieces and hang this banner on her bed frame. Isn't this cute for any kids room?

Clear Scraps Design Team Call

 

Clear Scraps is looking to add a few designers to our design team.

We are interested in artists with a variety of styles who can creatively showcase Clear Scraps acrylic and chipboard with cards, mini-albums, altered art and scrapbook layouts. No previous design team experience is necessary.

 

What to expect:

DT requirements are 3 projects per month, including written instructions/photo step-by-steps of at least one of these projects, two blog posts/month and active participation in group discussions.  Additional projects will be required occasionally for CHA, newsletters and classes.

 

DT compensation includes photo and bio recognition on our website and blog, generous product, monetary compensation for published work and a discount on additional Clear Scraps product purchased during your term. 

 

How to apply:

Please send applications or questions to: [email protected] . Include your name, address, phone number, blog address, link to online galleries and a short paragraph about yourself and why you think you'd be a good fit for Clear Scraps.  Also include 5 examples of your work (doesn’t have to be new for this call) giving us an idea of your style and what you like to do with acrylic.

Call ends Friday, Feb. 26^th . The new design team will be announced Monday March. 1^st. 

Term is 12 months, beginning March.1/ 2010.

Happy Birthday Banner

Here's an idea you can use next time you're planning a birthday party for someone special - embellish a fun birthday banner just for the occasion!

Supplies I Used:

• Banner: Clear Scraps
• Clear Mini Cupcake Shapes: Clear Scraps
• Chipboard Bird and Flower Shapes: Clear Scraps
• Ribbon: Creative Impressions
• Chipboard Letters: My Little Shoebox, Junkitz
• Patterned Papers: My Little Shoebox
• Die Cuts: My Little Shoebox
• Flowers and Flower Centers: Accent Scrapbooking
• Other Embellishments: Magic Mesh
• Marker: Zig Painty Pen
• Paper Edgers: Fiskars
• Adhesives: Scor-Tape by Scor-Pal, Glue Dots

I used a pages from the Clear Scraps cupcake mini album as a template for tracing around the Junkitz cupcake paper, and then I added both the cupcake shapes and the cut-out papers to the banner. The smaller cupcakes aren't ordinarily part of the banner, but I wanted to make my banner a little longer so I added them.

I love using my Clear Scraps acrylic shapes as templates! They are amazing! I wrote an earlier blog post with more ideas for how to do so. I hope you will find it helpful.

Glossy Accents and Acrylic

Hello everyone! It's Irene here. I'm finally back from the USA after attending the Winter CHA and teaching some classes there.

I've actually created a few technique ATCs using glossy accents for this CHA.

 

Above is an acrylic ATC that I've painted with Crackle Paint and later seal it using Glossy Accents. This will gives the crackled surface a dimensional and glossy look.

In the ATC above, I've used the "Glossy Accents and Peeled Away" technique. First I've randomly apply some Glossy Accents on the acrylic ATC. Then, I cover the ATC with a piece of pattern paper. When it's dry, peeled away some of the pattern paper from the acrylic ATC. This will create a distressed look to the acrylic surface.

 

Finally, the above ATC is created using the "Smudging Glossy Accents" technique. First, I've apply Glossy Accents all over the acrylic ATC and use a scrap plastic/paper to smudge it while it's still wet. When it's dry, apply some alcohol ink on the back of the ATC. This will create a "water effect" on the acrylic.

So, next time if you think your Glossy Accents could only be used as an adhesive or to create a glossy surface, think again. Try using it on your acrylics and create some of these cool effects! Happy experimenting!!
