I just love the Clear Scraps XL Cupcake acrylic!  I knew immediately that I had to play with this one.  I created this layout of my daughter and this is one you have to touch in real life to get the full effect.
 
    

  To achieve the frosted cupcake look I used the following materials:

• Clear Scraps XL Cupcake
• Krylon Short Cuts White Spray Paint
• Krylon White Webbing Spray
• Krylon Gold Glitter Spray
• Patterned Paper: Best Creation, Inc.
• Ribbon - Creative Impressions
• Button - Buttons Galore & More
• Chipboard - Best Creation, Inc (embossed with white embossing powder)
• Rub Ons - Sonnets
• Adhesives - wwHelmar V2 Vellum Spray and 450 Quick Dry
• Sticker - Diecuts with a View

This was a fun layout to experiment on. Spray paints work perfect on Clear Scraps Acrylic so don't be afraid to spray away!

Embellish Your Pages with some Clear Scraps Minis

   

Previously, I've blogged about using Clear Scraps latest acrylic minis to make mini albums and keychains. This time, let's use it to embellish your layouts. It's such a fun and easy embellishment to create and add's that extra little touch to your page. 

In my layout, I've used a mini acrylic cupcake and run part of it thourgh an embossing tool to get the circles. Then, I've coloured it with some EKSuccess Zig Painty and painted the edges with acrylic paint. For some finishing touches, just add a pattern paper, a strip of lace, a brad, ribbon and some liquid pearls. Isn't this fast and simple? Try using some Clear scraps minis in your next layout.

Yes, yes...you can SEW on Clear Scraps Acrylic

I used to sew...way back in the day.  I made dresses for myself in college.  I even made DH a shirt when we were dating.  And I LOVED sewing my kids' hallowe'en costumes!  But now my sewing machine is purely for scrapbooking on layouts, cards and everything I can fit under the pressure foot...which, by the way, definitely includes Clear Scraps Acrylic!

Here are my tips:

*I use a regular needle, with a little bit stronger than usual thread but not necessarily the heaviest thread around. 
*I sew slowly and backstitch my ends, even sometimes at corners so that it's a little bit stronger. 
*I clean out the eye of my needle after every project - teeny bits of acrylic residue build up in the eye and that's usually what rips my thread as I'm sewing.

That's it.  Simple.  Clear Scraps acrylic doesn't crack or break and unless you're pulling too hard on the acrylic while you're sewing, it won't break your needles either.  Slow and steady!
