Happy New Year Clear Scraps friends, Leah here with you today sharing the super cool new wood Phone Stand from the January 2019 Q kit.
From my stash, I stained the wood phone stand using Antique Wax. This is easily done by brushing the stain on and wiping it right back off. Do this for both phone pieces.
See how lovely the wood grain shows through?
Next, using washi tape from my stash, I mask off the raindrops on the 6" raindrop heart stencil included in the kit.
I do that to prevent the raindrops from being stenciled onto the phone stand.
To create the pink/coral color for the hearts, I use the Viva Modellier Cream from the kit and mix in a few drops of alcohol ink from my stash. Just mix it on your craft mat or paper plate.
Then you're ready to apply the hearts to your phone stand.
Using a craft knife or old credit card, apply the modellier cream to your phone stand. Move the stencil around, being careful not to disrupt the previous hearts you've stenciled. *Note, that if you apply the modellier cream to the stand insert (the smaller piece) you will have to sand down the stenciled hearts later on so it will slide into the phone stand easily. Set these aside to dry, which doesn't take long at all. Let's fussy cut some paper from the Graphic 45 paper pad.
Once your phone stand is dry, sand it for a distressed look (sandpaper from husband's garage, hehe) if you'd like.
Time to adhere those cute fussy cut images.
I also added some of that 12" bling from the kit above/below the small paper strip shown below.
And there you have it. A great decorative addition to your nightstand or desk that's not only functional but pretty, too.
